Things you hate about XBL

Well for starters, you have a pay $60 a year for online, which is rediculous considering there are many advertisments and no dedicated servers. Also, the repuation is inaccurate... Most people, even the really annoying ones, have a 5 star rep...And I get filed against 4 times for leaving about 3 times in my total time of playing Halo!! It's not fair, when people who quit whenever they are losing still have 5 star rep. I also got a report for being disruptive.... which I never am!!

While the ads I don't really mind too much, the fact that we are paying for something that is free for Microsoft makes me angry. No dedicated servers. I hate how the person with the best connection gets all the power. I mean in some games the host can end the game whenever he/she wants to make their team win.... It makes me so angry. And when a host leaves in Halo 3 the game it can mess everything up. Also, when there are a lot of people in a custom match for Halo, everything is usually a mess (people yelling before the game and delaying the countdown for no reason, and everything runs REALLY slow for the Party leader too..

This is the worst in Halo 3. First of all, they don't even let you play a mode you want. You go in lone wolves, you get the extremely unfair oddball and territory thing, which is really unbalanced. Why can't we even get the ability to play what mode we want? And the game loads the map before we even get to decide if we want it or not! Why can't it be more like COD4? The time it takes for Halo 3 to start a freaking game you might as well have everyone vote on a map, like Mario Kart for Wii, which found a game faster than Halo3. Don't get me wrong, when you finally do get in a Halo 3 game that you like, it can be really fun, I just wish it was more like Halo 1 for the comptuer, when you got to play with the same people over and over with mixed teams, and you get to play the mode you want (maps don't matter too much).

but yes, it would be so much better if it was free like the playstation network, i dont see much of a reason why not.

yes, the rep system is a bit naff, apparently 20% of the players ive played ever thought i was agressive, and another 20% unsporting. im neither of those! honest

and the community is probably the biggest issue, all the kids who are full of themselves, the people who wont stop singing, the screaming, the racism, and especially little kids who are full of themselves and wont stop singing shouting and being racist.

If you play games and that is too expensive then you shouldn't play games

The library or other free hobbies is better suited for that sort of financial status

xbl isnt free for microsoft. they have to buy the servers it uses, pay the people who make it work, pay the people who maintain the servers, and pay the people who make the updates. i dont mind having to pay buy imo $50 a year is a bit much considering the whole thing can be done with a small team of people.

halo has the crappy matchmaking because bungie decided to do it that way. microsoft might have had some say as the publisher, but stuff like that is usually the decision of the dev.

as far as bullet lag and p2p reliability goes, its an overblown problem imo. p2p is okay unless you have a really crappy connection, at which point it wouldnt matter if servers were dedicated. i get annoyed when people whine about miniscule bullet lag. the only games that had horrible bullet lag were gears 1 and tf2.

the only complaints i have about xbox live are that $50 is a bit too much to pay, and the community. its not just trash talk, a lot of people on xbl dont know what teamwork is, and i hate how  the multiplayer of less popular games dies within a month because everyone moves onto the next generic multiplayer shooter. i know graw is more than 2 years old, but its stupid how there is only one or two half full games going at peak hours. most pc games stay alive for years. there are still some servers active for quake.

Racism, Kids with annoying voices, no dedicated servers.

They should include matchmaking and making your own rooms like in the old games. It just doesnt make any sense to just use one.

And also, I can pay $59.99 a year. But still, it is a lot of money that could be used to buy a game. I would understand $20 a year given there are no servers, but $60 is a bit high I think.

Stability? Tell that to GeOW2 and Soul Caliber 4 players.

Bonus content? So you played that Mirrors edge demo a little earlier than the rest of us, I can totally see why that's worth the money:roll:.

Community? Nothing says "fun" like being n-bombed for an hour while I try to play a game online.

But I can mute those jerks? Yeah, and MS could ban them. Since they're not paying me to be an enforcer, maybe they should actually earn their money and do what they are being paid for, which is in part (SURPRISE) enforcing their rules.

But no ones forcing you to play your games online. You are going to be screwed when you get out in the real world and realize you have to pay for EVERYTHING because nothing is free. I mean yes the online service for the ps3 is free but my god it sucks hard.

What does personal responsibility have to do with anything? I buy a game, I know I can't play the game online, not having a choice is not the same as having a choice and not doing it. If I had a choice in online services for the Xbox 360 and chose to abstain anyway then it would be my choice, but in this case there are none. You either pay to play, or you go without, and that's not a choice, you are forced to do things their way.

In the real world, I would never pay for the privilege of using what I already own. Nothing is free? You should have a look at my blog banner before you start trying to drop a line like that on me ;).  However, since you went there, Windows Live is free, PSN is free, Guild Wars is free, Myspace is free, AIM, MSN, and ICQ are free, there are dozens of free online game services like World Winner, I can view Hulu or South Park Studios, this message board is free, there are a ton of places with free themes for Windows, the last time I checked I didn't have to be a gold anything to play a demo for my PC when it came out any sooner than anyone else, oh, and this free board actually DOES enforce it's policy on racism and harassment. Oh, are none of these a part of the real world? Just checking.

I feel a little sorry for people that feel like they have to defend this service. MS is screwing most of you over, and you'd still stick up for them and this service.

60 dollars a year expensive? Do the math, thats like 6 cents a day.

Unless your into slave labor, this isn't too hard to make.

 2. Its actually cheaper for u americans to get membership for a year, it costs me £40 which is like $70 -75 so shut up

But what I hate about XBL:

• Paying. We all know it should be free, especially since there are alternatives. But you can't really blame them, people will pay it no matter what. Plus, no one in their right mind should be justifying its price.
• Lack of dedicated servers. At the very least, MS published games should use dedicated servers, especially since their all heavily played on XBL (Gears of War, Halo 3, etc.)
• Advertisements. As if the revenue we give them in gold subscriptions weren't enough.

I hate it how the whole system is centred around americans:

-No video market place
-No community games
-Almost ALL games have an online system that either makes it difficult or impossible to have a lag free game unless you live in america.

An example:
Soulcalibur 4.... Host a ranked game and americans flood in forcing me to constantly back out or just give up and have a lag fest to which THE OPPONENT STARTS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT!

Ping/region filters! Please! 

The worst thing about XBL is get that frackin Dashboard update from them.  All show and worthless!

Well you pay for cable tv and that is nothing BUT ads. 

As for Live the only thing that bothers me about live is some of the jerks on it.
