Bioshock is an original story and setting, with deep gameplay. Halo 3 is the continuation of an existing franchise with gameplay that will be almost identical to the previous 2 games. On that basis alone, Bioshock will be better.
As for multiplayer, Bioshock's SP will have lots of replayability, extending its life past the first playthrough. However, even if you play through it multiple times, its lifespan will be finite. Halofans are sure to play the MP for years to come, much like Halo 2. But lots of FPS with great MP exist (R6:V, GeOW) and will continue to be released in the future, diluting Halo's MP.
In my mind, unique gameplay will help Bioshock be the better game. We'll all be able to form our own opinions in a little more than a month.
Just because Bioshock doesn't have MP doesn't mean that it can't be the better game, it just won't have as much longevity. I think Bioshock has a better shot at GOTY than Halo3. I think the originality & depth of Bioshock will win over the hearts ofmost people who play it, regardless of how awesome Halo3 turns out to be.
Just my opinion though.
The single player could be better, but it won't last as long because it doesn't have multiplayer.Trickshot771
no mp, are you serious?
I think the only reason Halo is so popular is because of multiplayer. Let's face it, H2 had a pretty standard single player experience. I've seen nothing to show me that H3 will be any different. What made H1 so great was that it was very original, but H2 and H3 are just more of the same. I'm sure H3 will have great MP, but I'm not much of a MP fan so I don't care.
Bioshock on the other hand looks set to do what H1 did when it came out. It will add on to the FPS experience, making it a much richer SP game. Maybe the MP fanatics won't care for the lack of online support, but I'm looking forward to the unique single player game.
I'll rent Halo 3 to play through it once, I'll buy Bioshock.

Yeah Bioshcok doesn't have multiplayer
Don't get me wrong Halo 3 is gonna be a great game, but what irrational games is doing with Bioshock seems like it could change how we play FPS.darklord239
I agree on all points. Halo is one of my fave franchises but Bioshock makes me jittery and is a game unlike any I've ever seen.
bioshock has no multiplayer and thats why it wont be better than halo 3Banned2x
i dont think MP makes a game better or worse if you do it right, there are so many ways to play bio shock and so much to explore, where as halo 3 just a shooter. longterm replay value depends on the person IMO, i think they will both be good games nd i am getting both
Ya I agree the replay value doesnt really make a difference to what game will be better.Just because Bioshock doesn't have MP doesn't mean that it can't be the better game, it just won't have as much longevity. that seems about right
I'm glad there is no multiplayer. I mean seriously, what would it have been? This game is not some tactical combat shooter like Halo and other games that lend themsevles to online battles.
This game is totally different playing experience and any MP would have felt tacked on and out of place. And again, I'm glad because they didn't waste time on such a stupid thing and instead focused on creating a great SP experience.
Seriously, why do people make or break a game just because it's missing a hollow, poorly implemented deathmatch when it has an amazing SP game? If you want to frag someone just load up games that were half or totally designed for that kind of MP.
I mean, it seems today people want a crappy SP game with tacked on multiplayer for so called more gameplay that's exactly the same as every other game out there. It gets repetitive after a while.
As great as Halo 3 looks to be I think Bioshock deserves at leat GotY. It's deep story, fantastic setting, and awesome powers more than make up for the lack of MP.
Halo 3 is gonna sell millions no question, but Bioshock should get the attention it deserves and not be another Psychonauts.
