Ok, so I am a huge videogame fan, who is no fanboy to any company and buys any system that looks fun. So, I bought the wii, because I am a poor college student and found resident evil 4 to be amazing, well I am such a huge resident evil fan, that I decided that i'm going to buy a 360 just for resident evil 5 alone. I recently also played bioshock and found it to be amazing, so have decided i'd like to get a 360 sooner than planned. The only problem is I can only afford a used system on ebay, but I know the 360 has had problems with the red ring of death and that microsoft issued a new warranty program witht he repalcements, but my question is, if I buy one used on ebay and it breaks down on me, will it still be covered under the new replacement program microsoft issued, or am I S.O.L.? I really want a 360, but can't afford a new one.

Good things come to those who wait... Don't buy a used one. The hassle of it breaking down sucks. Save for a little longer, and save yourself the trouble.

You don't need to get the Elite, just get a new version and you can get one new now for under $400.

If i were you i'd just wait it out til you have the money then go for a new one. Never know on ebay and like you said you might be SOL cause i don't know if the warranty transfers over or not.

yeah like the others said..wait a little longer and save your money for a premium console. there is no need to buy an elite if youre short on bucks.

Alright, thanks for the advice. As much as I hate to shell out more money that I probably can't afford, i'm just going to save a little extra up and get a new one...although it won't be the elite, def. gonna hafta go with the 20 gig version. How long did Microsoft extend the warranty for again? Thanks again for the help

The ring of death is when the button on your xbox to turn it on and off which is usually green turns red. This usually means that your disc drive has gone bad so you need to then contact microsoft and send in your xbox for repair.

If you buy a new one that was manufactured after July 07 (I think) you don't get the extended warranty. You only get the 1 year warranty.

When I bought mine a few months ago I bought the extended coverage plan from theretailer to add a few years.

Theoretically the newed consoles should be less prone to the RROD ... or so I'm told.
