..I haven't even played the first one yet. I'm not the biggest first person shooter gamer and I've played all of the previous COD's (including WaW) but I just let the first COD: MW pass me by with working so much and trying to graduate.

I do enjoy these games as I've played many other first person shooters like Red Faction and Black but these shooters are obviously for more of the casual shooting gamer. I'm just trying to gauge whether or not this series is for me and just wanting some opinions. Thanks.

I never really played the first one or beat the game or anything but I'm getting Modern Warfare 2 for sure. I just don't want to miss out again.

Well, after seeing numerous videos on Youtube and hearing about the game from some of my co-workers, they say the game is mindblowing. I'm leaning towards getting the first one but I don't want to get buy it just to keep up with the release of the MW2. I'm still trying to go through Red Faction: Guerrilla as well. I'm thinking I'll just get MW2 and jump into the middle of it since I don't want to be left behind either.

Modern Warfare 1 is worth it even now... It still has 150,000+ players daily on Live... and the single player for it is awesome... Just get it... MW2 comes out in a month... You can get so much out of MW1 in a month...

Thanks everyone. I'm going to look at getting COD 4 tomorrow on my first off day at my local Gamestop to see if they have a pre-played game I can buy for a discounted price. I'm still on the fence about getting COD 4: MW2 but that may change after I play the first one.

If you care at all about the story in the SP campaign, rent COD4 first and play through that. It will provide a better backdrop to the events of MW2 than just going into that game headfirst.

Get COD4 AFTER MW2 because it will be like $40 then. It's still selling for around full price. OR you can go on craigslist and put a wanted ad for the game and you could get a copy for around $25

Respect (sort of) to Treyarch and everything, but COD3 and World at War were just butt compared to COD2 and Modern Warfare.

If you know what is good for you, you'll probably buy what is bound to be one of the bigger console games of all time, MW2.

I only bought WaW because it seemed like more of the COD series I was used to (WWII setting). I thought COD 4 was going to be more like Splinter Cell where you get killed by one shot and having to stay stealthy throughout the whole game. Obviously I didn't do the research on the game but I was used to the WWII aspect of the previous CODs.

I'm getting the first one today and I'm going to pre-order the second one as well there. I'm working more so I can afford to buy a brand new game this year. Thanks for all the opinions everyone.

Basically all you need to know is that the person you played as in the first one is now your commader in the second. And theres a terrorist threat, and you go Buck it up

Don't even worry about getting CoD4, just jump straight into MW2. They developers aren't going to make it to where you absolutely have to play the first to appreciate the second. Anyone can pick this up. But if you start playing 4, you'll probably be burnt out on the series and need a break by the time MW2 rolls out. I'm speaking for myself, but too much of a good thing can make you not appreciate it.

But honestly, do what you want, I'm just offering my two cents.

You are like the only one then... I doubt he will be burnt out after playing it for a month... I have been playing it for 2 solid years and I still have just as much fun playing it now as I did at launch.

Just rent cod4, its waste of money to buy cod4 a month before cod6. you wont play cod4 anyway when you have cod6.

Started playing today..I absolutely love the game. I can't believe I let this one pass me by, not I'm glad I pre-ordered MW2. The game is so damn realistic and I know now why it got Game of the Year. I've been racking up the achievements along the way too but I know there's a bunch to get.
