I have had that exact same router for a couple of years and it still works but I can't stand it. For one thing whenever I make a change in the software on the router it can take a day or two for it to change. Also there are different versions of this router and the only way to tell which one is after you have purchased the product. Additionally this router is the reason why I am not going to buy any Linksys products for a long while.

Right now I am looking at getting a D-Link DGL 4300

That is also the same one i use. It works VERY well. i really recommend getting it. but you have to have this hooked up to the 360 first because it is the only wireless connector that can connect to that router with a good connection. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115416826619&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=2661900349B01 This game router is about $90 at Wal-Mart. This is the combination i use to get on xbox live. It's pretty simple to set up.

No, you don't have to have that particular wireless adapter and no, it's not the only one that can connect to that router. The MS wireless adapter works just fine.
