everyone here is dealing with it, so why can't you? if it rings, then get it replaced, no big deal, really... if you don't wanna deal with that, then don't get one...simple as that, really.

i dont really wanna deal with that lol i was hoping microsoft would correct the problem considering its been years
I've had four Xboxes and zero have red ringed(knock on wood) so in my opinion it's somewhat of an overrated issue, everyone thinks that an Xbox goes for like a week then red ring then do it again.
That's not my experience though.
how do you know if its a jasper version? I want to check mine..... Mine was the one that came out with Kung fu panda and Lego Indiana like a year ago.CoolSkAGuy
There's a lot of ways to know if you have as jasper or not. the most accurate one IMO is to check the numbers at the back of your unit. if it says 12.1A, for sure its a jasper. 14 for falcon and 16 will be zephyr/xenon.
I've had mine for nearly 2 years and it just now got the RROD, its not a big deal I guess but its still frusterating. I'm debating with myself on rather or not to sell my xbox and all the games and invest in a PS3.

I bought it last years black friday, I saw the back and it said 14.1w or something so im pretty sure im falconscrewed :(CoolSkAGuy
here are some more comparison.. its ok to have a falcon as long as its not xenon and zephyr. :D
Buying any new system will always have the chance of shutting down. I've had mine for about a year now and the only time it had the RROD was when my room was hot as **** because of a heat wave. But that was the only time. It still works fine for me even after that incident. :)
Heats the enemy and you're wrapping it in a towel??? What a douche. Jaspers should be fine, the figure is apparantly a 4% failure rate for them.I have an Oct.2008 made 360 which has never (so far) had the R.R.O.D. I wrap my 360 in a towel as dust is your enemy not the chip that MS uses.

I own a Jasper 360 and from my experience it broke on me.
I got RROD and it only took a 1 - 2 weeks to be fixed by MS. So, it's not a big deal but it sucks. I don't know why people make it like Jaspers are perfect. Jaspers still break down, but not as frequently as the older models.
If you want get a store warranty, so you can return it and get a new one as soon as it happens.
I got my first 360 year after lunch (3 years ago?). I played it for a month and it started to hang up and act funky. It was also so damn noisy I could not hear my surround sound over it.I got rid of it.
Few weeks ago I got new Elite unit and it's day and night compared to original 360. It's very quiet and there are no problems with it so far.
