Hmm, I'm pretty sure that unless you hit eBay, you're looking at $279.99 everywhere. Some sites might offer a slightly lower price, but there's no telling. Just check around online and compare.
'Im in the same spot you are TC, but yes, unless you find a second hand one, I believe they have a set price. I checked Wal-Mart, EB Games, etc. But they all have the same prices. Arcade is $ 279, the Pro is $ 349, and I'm not sure on the others. (Most likely they were out of my price range! :P) So yah, check around I guess.

you might want to be careful about buying on ebay, the xbox might not work due to red ring of death, but you could buy one brand new with a falcon and HDMI.
I've never heard of one cheaper than the retail price, and I would recommend getting one from a reliable source, since they can be so unreliable. I picked my first one up from a GameStop and had to take it back three days later since it kept freezing. You're best getting a good brand spankin' new one to be safe man.
if you try to get one cheap on ebay try and get a local pick up....i found one that i had to drive about 20 mins to get, the guy let me see it working and everything was good, got it really cheap and no problems yet
XBox, along with other consoles, are price controlled by the manufacturer. The only deals you are likley to find are stores giving away games with systems, or somehting like that. I recommend getting the $349 pro system by the way. It has the hard drive and the other things you will need to buy anyway.
