Hey guys, I've had Blockbuster Online for like three years. However it's prices have gone up and I hate the limited trade-ins. How do you like Netflix on your 360? Is it superior to Blockbuster online? If so, how is it superior? Have you had any issues like lag or anything, or the dl taking a long time?

Just need some actual customer feedback instead of looking at sugar coated advertisements. Thanks

well ive kept my account. the main reason is because i can hold 3 movies at a time, and i can return them to a blockbuster and get 3 movies at the store and have the 3 movies in my queue making me have 6 movies at once. netflix is cool and all, but it doesnt have all the movies i like online, so i see no point to it really. Also you cant program your xbox to just turn off , so it sucks if you were trying to watch something to go to bed. thats my take on it, with blockbuster you can hold more movies at once, and with netflix you can watch it on your xbox(that you cant put a sleep timer on).

It's better than Blockbuster in my opinion, because you can stream hundreds of movies and watch them instantly on your 360 in HD (HDTV needed of course). Also, you can get movies shipped to your house while you enjoy streaming as an added bonus. Just try the 1 month free trial Netflix offers through the 360 and see for yourself.

it depends on a few things...

I don't watch movies that often so I'm happy with Netflix's $8.99 plan (1 movie at a time + unlimited streaming movies).

I usually just use Netflix to have a movie playing in the background while I work on my computer. Their download choices are very small and not very good, but it has a few good shows like Lost, Heroes, MythBusters, History channel stuff. So I'm fine with that.

You like to have tons of movies, just use both Netflix and Blockbuster.

The good thing about Netflix is you can typically get whatever you want. The downside is that you have wait for the mail to arrive then mail it back.

The good thing about BlockBuster is that you can go to the store and get a video all in the same day. No waiting for mail. The problem is that you have physically go to the actual store and they may not have what you want.

I have Blockbuster and Netflix. Blockbuster is much better at getting discs to me, and have a larger inventroy, Netflix's only perk is the ability to stream random old movies/TV shows on my 360/PS3/Netflix box. Sometimes what is available is good, othertimes not. They do rotate and remove stuff off of Netflix, so what you see this month, may be gone next month, there is never a sense of permanent streaming movies/TV shows that you can always watch. What's available via streaming is changed and random, but rest assured, it's old stuff (with the ocasional exception of some new TV deal/relatively new movies...but again, if you have HDTV, you are much better off catching Heroes LIVE on TV, or getting it on Blu).

One thing is for sure, the quality isn't that great (DVD is actually better, upscaled DVD way way better, and you knokw how Blu looks ;)), but for old shows from the 70's/80's the quality isn't a major issue. However, for actual great movies like Matrix or Fight Club, I would much rather get the Blu-Ray from Blockbuster or Netflix.

Blockbuster lets me get 3 Blu-Rays/DVD's in the mail every week, and then when I finish, I can get new movies from any local Blockbuster in the area (I have over 10 locations available to me, big city ;) ) while I wait for the next stuff to ship.

That being said, I buy A LOT of movies too. I hope this help you and your Netflix question.

If I had limited money, and I was to get rid of my Netflix or Blockbuster, Netflix would go first. If I was younger, I might like it more since I probably wouldn't have an HDTV, I probably would like the old movies I've seen before, etc. My problem is I've seen a LOT of movies, A lot of TV, so I end up watching a lot of reruns on Netflix....in low streaming quality. To each their own though.

My question is, if you are trying to watch NEWER Movies, why would you want crappy low resolution streaming? It's a nice service, but I'm not going to watch great movies on my multiple HDTV's in the house through the streaming. Not for me. YOu also lose better sound, subtitles, extra features, deleted scenes, etc.

Sometimes they put newer movies and TV shows, but, again, you are better off getting the Bluray or at least the DVD. I don't get the popularity of low quality movies, but my much younger kid brother does like the service more that I do (He lives with in his own apartment). He likes Netflix because those old school movies I've seen? They are new to my younger brother so he gets more use out of the streaming...and he doesn't care about HDTV's, or missing sound/features. So, hopefully that helps a bit.

Don't forget, Netflix streaming on 360 REQUIRES a Gold Membership as well. Scratch everything I said above if you aren't gold, or are planning on moving to Silver.

I absolutely love Netflix. I get to rent three at a time with unlimited streaming for $14.99. That's not as bad as going to Hollywood Video and paying $40 a month and having three rentals out at a time. Netflix has a ton of old movies, but that's fine with me. For instance, the gf and I watched A Nightmare Before Christmas last night. I can't use Netflix on my X360 because I don't have a gold membership. What a bummer! Anyways I hope this helps in your decision.

Well I have been using Netflix for around 4 years with the 3 Disc plan and Unlimited streaming. Netflix is the best all around rental service and even Blockbuster has admitted that they lost the movie war to them in the past. The reason Blockbuster has been on the cusp of filing bankruptcy the last few years was cause of its revenue loss caused in large part by Netflix. For one thing that everyone gets wrong about Netflix is saying that they only instant stream old movies which is wrong. There are hundreds of movies in the post 2000 era including 09, 08 and 07 movies. It depends on the movie companies themselves rather or not they can be instant streamed. The Netflix service on the 360 is superb in my personal opinion. I use my PC and add videos to my Instant Watch Q with my girlfriend then we turn on my 360 to watch them on the HD TV instead of the PC screen. It also buffers very quickly on my 360 which may be cause I have a fast internet connection (live in Seattle) One reason why I may enjoy Netflix movie rental is cause the Netflix center is right in my town so it only takes a day to get the movies in the mail after we order them....... I could see drawbacks to people that don't live close to their Netflix center and have to wait 3 to 6 days after sending a disc back to get a new one.

With the ability to stream movies....Netflix>Blockbuster. I ended my blockbuster account about a year and a half ago. I've never been to a blockbuster store since.

I believe netflix has some sort of online streaming as well through your PC I think.. not sure though. So it probably lets you stream through more than just the 360. Either way, both good services in their respective rights. I think Netflix has the cheaper pricetag on it and it's always nice to be able to browse through movies on your 360 and just be able to watch them without shelling out hundreds/thousands of MS points.

Oh and one of the drawbacks of Netflix is that if you don't find the movie you're looking for through streaming, you'll have to wait 1-2, maybe more days for it to arrive in the mail. This can be somewhat annoying because it's almost like you have to plan what you're going to watch days ahead of time. There's nothing like going into a store and browsing through movies and getting instant satisfaction. For instance, you can't invite a girl over and then decide hey we should see this movie, let's put it in my que... *waits 3 days* ok, let's watch it now! That gets awkward.

Netlfix is great $8.99 for one disc at a time and free streaming. Where I live if I get the movie in the mail before 5pm Netflix has it back by the next day and have sent out the next disc that same day. It's basically one day turn around time for the movies that you can't stream.

The ones you can stream are available on a lot of the systems out there. It looks great on the 360 and quite a few movies stream in HD. Of course on the 360 you have to be a Gold level, but on the other systems it is free.

Can't say how it stacks up against Blockbuster now a days as I haven't used them in years.

^ Yeah.. you get unlimited streaming but there are movies that can't be streamed (I'm guessing the newest movies, or the most popular ones) so you gotta have the disc shipped for that.
