I'm planning to purchase a 360. I'm not sure if i should buy the core or the premium version.

I need to have a wireless connection and would like to use a wireless controller. Also, is the hard drive necessary? I also don't want to spend a lot of money on it so would anyone recommend a used, refurb 360? Let me know where the best place to purchase a 360 for "cheap" is.

Thanks!

---

How does the warranty work? Is it issued by the date of which the unit is manufactured? or the date when it was sold to you buy a retailer. If i buy it online from an auction site would there be no warranty?

----

Another question. Can i use another wireless adapter with the 360? instead of purchasing the overpriced 360 one?

I got the more expensive premium version but Imay have been better off without it. It came with a lot of stuff I don't even use like the headset and the remote control. The only thing I use is the hard drive, and I can't honestly say that I have so much stuff downloaded that I even need it. If you don't think you'll be downloading a lot of games and videos, you won't need the hard drive. And of course you can always buy one later on if you run out of memory. As far as buying a refurbished one, I always prefer to buy new, but if the refurbished one comes with the same length warranty as a new one, I'd recommend you buy the refurbished one to save money.

The Premium is better than the core, even if you get the core, you still need to buy a memory card to save your games on.

The hard drive isn't necessary but it should be.

I should also mention I also never use the wireless controller. They purposely made it come with the wireless so you would have to invest in more batteries all the time. The cord on the regular controller is plenty long enough for me, just like the original Xbox controllers. Xbox definitely has the longest cords out there and that's a plus IMO.

Go with premium if you have the money and they do come package with a wireless controller and the harddirve is very important because some future games mind depend on one, plus think of all the free try b4 you buy demos.

I do not recommend a refurbished console becuase they have been fixed but WILL die again its just a matter of time.

Have fun with it when you do get it and what ever you do dont go by the reviews when buying games because at the end of the day its an opinion and since people vary you WILL not like all the 9+ games trust me.

Why don't you just get a play and charge kit or a quick charge kit so your not always buying batteries.

they made the wireless controllers... so you invest in batteries?.... you realize they dont make the profit from batteries... they make the wireless controlers cuz its easier to have no cords. people dont like cords. they can be tripped over and they make a room look messy when u leave them out. and they get tangled... but it has nothing to do with batteries... more convienence

  1. Some games require a HDD to be able to save you're progress. Most don't though. However, you won't be able to download anything of the marketplace without a HDD.
  2. Warranty expires one year after you purchase you're console.
  3. I highly recommend you to think about getting a 360. It's definitely not a console for budget gamers like you. You should check out the Wii or PS3 first in my opinion. The Xbox 360 comes to the most expensive of the three if you want to enjoy it fully. Including 50 bucks a year for Xbox Live, accessories and whatnot. Because in my opinion, you don't know what you're doing if you think you don't need Live or download things of the marketplace. You limit yourself extremely if you're a budget gamer and choose the 360. It is the best console in my opinion, but only if you spend money on it.

To be honest I'm not a budget gamer but I dont like to pay extra for things I really don't need.

I already own a PS3 but I also want to experience the games on the 360 as well.

Thank you for the input.

In that case; you don't need the HDD, but you do need it for many features. Downloading demo's isn't possible without an HDD. Not even one. Trailers etc. same deal. Arcade games might also be a problem later on. And the wireless controller is much more comfortable in my opinion. You should just get rechargable batteries and a recharger for like 10 bucks. Or get the Battery Packs.
