Ok this elie 360 feels like a slap in the face to some of us already 360 owners. But it only has 4 new things for it:

  1. It is $80 more than the premium so price of it is $480
  2. It is coming in black like the original xbox which the 360 should've came in black in the first place cuz white is plain
  3. It has HDMI
  4. It has a bigger hard drive=120 gb

Ok now what it is missing:

  • Built in HD DVD or Blue Ray drive to make games developed for the system even better and of course movies
  • Built in wifi for some of us-I don't need it cuz ethernet is better for online gaming

Add to the list of what iti is missing if you can think of something it may also need other wise discuss

yup, elite is a memory upgrade for 360 owners. maybe a 600 dollar bundle with halo 3, another controller and some free xbox live points or gold subscription months... that sounds pretty good.

Microsoft has said that they won't ever release games on HD-DVD, hinting that they wouldn't even do it if they eventually release an Xbox 360 with an HD-DVD drive.

I wouldn't have minded if they updated some of the hardware because its too often that my Xbox freezes or slows down due to missed calculation of some sort.

Game freezes can be attributed to the game code 99.9999999999999999999999% of the time, not the 360 itself.

All this is going to do is alienate current 360 owners while not quite reaching the level of tech specs PS3 is on. Personally I think they should just keep the 360 the way it is and release the bigger HDD...then at least 360 owners won't be divided into 3 seperate camps.

I'm glad they left out a HD-DVD player or a Blu-Ray player. Some people don't have HDTV's. So that extra $50 - $100 is wasted on something that person couldn't even use.

Besides, the Xbox 360 is all about customization and letting the consumer pick what he wants in his console. Faceplates, external HD-DVD drive, 3 types of packages, different sized HDD's, this is how Microsoft wanted the 360 to be used. It's all about choices when it comes to the 360.

Would someone please explain how Microsoft is alienating their customers and kicking them to the curb, as another thread so aptly put it?

Yes, the 120 HD is being sold seperate. It comes out on April 28. It is $180.

I'm still waiting for the new CPU, supposed to be quieter and cooler. And u can buy the 120 GB HDD separtely for $179 dollars!!! Damn talk about gettin ripped...

And the reason microsoft doesnt include a built in HD drive is because there is still no clear winner of the format war (HD vs Blu-Ray) so if HD loses, which it's looking like it will right now, we'd have paid extra money for a useless drive that we're stuck with. I think microsoft is smart for doing that. They already said that if blu ray wins they'll release a blu ray add-on. They should hold off on built in next-gen movie drives until theres a clear winner.

The people getting screwed in this are the current Premium owners like myself... especially those who recently got their Premium (like me who got it for xmas).

It's a great option for future 360 owners who have been saving up for a Premium ... save $80 more to get the Elite or those who held out for the PS3 but are now disappointed.

Core owners can now upgrade their storage space by buying the 120GB HDD (being sold sepeartely) without having to ditch anything.  HDMI probably wouldn't matter too much for Core owners... if they were interested in gaming in HD, they would have bought the Premium.

Premium owners gain nothing from this.  We'd have to ditch our current 20GB (which we paid extra for) to upgrade to the 120gb and have to go through the tedious task of transferring all the data and no chance of gaining HDMI at all.

Do I like the Elite system... YES.  Do I want the Elite system... YES.  Will I buy the Elite system.... NO.
