Windows Live Messenger does not work with a child Windoes Live account. That's fine, I guess, except that Microsoft has it setup so that any account made a child account stays that way permanently; furthermore, the messenger feature cannot be unlocked in the parental controls by the parent account. This means that anybody who made his account before he was 18 will never be able to usethe messenger feature of the new update EVER -- for the rest of his life! I set up my account last year, when I was still 17. This issue had better be resolved promptly. :evil:InfectX
Thank you for posting this for the 3000th time... oh and in case you didn't hear that anyone under 18 when they made there account can't use it on the 360
What's absolutely "REDICULOUS" is how many people cannot spell ridiculous correctly. Maximus43
lol...so very true

Wow, This is exactly the problem I'm facing. So there really isn't a solution yet?
a reaction like this is probably why they dont want kids on the messanger, and profanity reasons too. its probably not that hard to lie about your age to make it workjeffrow925
I see no harm in text messagin your friends, regardless of profanity.

I dont either but what if someone messages a 12 year old about sex and drugs and stuff then he goes and asks his mom or dad what that stuff is. their could be lawsuit, its better for them to cover their butt before it gets kicked. and if a kid lies about his age then its his own fault and MS isnt responsible.

I'm sorry but you must be an idiot. Microsoft may as well be too. They have parental locks on there for a reason. Why can't they just make MSN the same thing as XBox Live. Let parents restrict messages from people no on their kids list or stop them from adding friends (without approval). Is that really hard? Now you can say kids will bypass the parent lock. And if they do then parents need to step up their game and set a passcode and or add more secruity. If kids bypass an email adress and password as well as a passcode then the parents probably should take away the 360 and all means of communications. To me if someone is stupid enough to put out their information on the internet or a form of message system then they deserve to get caught. I am pretty sure i was told not to talk to strangers in kindergarden. If a kid has msn before that age then the parents need to step up their game.
If microsoft put on precautions and made it to where parents could change the way their kids could use msn then they couldn't really take blame. If the parents didn't make use of the security it is their fault. I mean hell a kid can get onto myspace or any chatroom on a PC easier.
