This is my first XBOX

Hi,

I bought my first 360 yesterday. The Forza bundle is pretty sweet! I bought Reach too (playing now) and I'm liking it overall. My one gripe though: why the hell does it keep signing me out of XBL? What kind of crap is that? I've had to sign back in like 5 times already. I never experience this problem with PSN.

Can anyone tell me what's up?

Also... what are your favorite exclusive games? I only have Forza and Reach at the moment.

'Auto sign in'.. might help.. Then again it might not ! Personally I thought it just signed ya out when ya not playing online

I've never had connection issues, so I don't know what thats about.

It could be from all the system or game updates you have to apply...I think that whenever you have to apply an update to anything, it automatically signs you out of XBL for a moment or two.

How do I know if I need to apply updates?

I reset my modem as my friend recommended. When I started up the console again, I tested it in Reach. I played a math online and I didn't experience lag or any connection issues. Then, when I went to the main menu after the match was over, it disconnected from Live again.

I think it might be some off router issue. I'm not sure what was going on, but I played for 2 hours straight with a friend (Reach) and it was as smooth as eggs. No biggie...

is your NAT settings on the router set to open? I had that issue a few weeks back when I got a new router and it defaulted to "moderate" NAT settings.

on the exclusives front, Gears of War series (first one is diiiirt cheap now), Splinter Cell Conviction (think this was exclusive to xbox/pc?), Mass Effect 1 (although then you may want ME2 on 360 to do character transfer/continuation)

(sorry if you have gaming PC and are raging over me rattling off pc/360 games as "exclusives". but these are the only ones I got in my collection atm, in addition to the already owned (by TC) Reach and Forza 3 . . . I know this ain't SW, thought I'd throw in the disclaimer anyways lol)

Google or go to Xbox.com and search for your issue. It is probably a router setting. I couldn't connect to XBL Party chat when I got a new router and was the first time I ever had that problem. Often it is the NAT like a previous poster said.

Currently playing Forza 3 and it's awesome. Others include Gears of War, Viva Pinata, Fable series, Crackdown to name a few off the top of my head.
