I've got a console that's gone bad. It won't read game discs anymore. It's out of the 1 year warranty and I don't feel like giving Microsoft money for what is obviously a defect as big as the 3 rings since everybody I know have disc trays that wonk out too.

I've tried covering the vents in tape, I've tried wrapping up the 360 in blankets, I tried putting it near a radiator heater and cranking up the heat. I never have a problem getting it to overheat but it won't give me 3 rings so I guess I can't get it to overheat enough to melt the connections. I've dropped it from 3 feet, from 6 feet. The stupid thing still fires up every time. But still won't play games. I've got to have the only launch console on the planet that won't ring out. Any suggestions? I obviously can't drop it on concrete cause it'll shatter and putting it in the oven is a recipe for disaster.

leave it on for a day or 3, and block the vent too. u can put it in a oven, just not over 200f. constant heat on the cpu and gpu will eventaully get it to break.

That only applies if you have red rings. Everything else and they make you pay.

Wrapping it in towels will work, you just have to give it long enough. Wrap it in towels, turn it on then just go out and play kiss chase or whatever for a hour. Just keep a eye on your house, don't want it catching fire.

Where do you live. the reason i ask this is because if you live in the USA somewhere in the south it has been so hot that if you take it outside, wrap it in towel, and just turn it on and it should overheat within a couple hours.

Plug it in outside in the sun during the day and wraping in a black trash bag or black towel. It should nuke it within a couple hours.

What if they just repair the system and you still have the disc problem?
