For a long time I have been shruging Fable III off as meh. I suppose I just wasn't in the mood to deal with Molyneuxs antics. BUt now I'm in full blown drool over Fable III, I don't care if I end up hurt again, it is such a good and intense feeling to want something this much. Hope for the future when everything around us is degrading.

For all who are unaware of what is currently known about Fable III, read the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fable_III

Please do read the wiki; Fable III sounds absouletely amazing at the moment. You get to import your character from Fable II as the father of the hero you play in III...just read the link I gave you! DO IT!

Scary thing though is that Peter Molyneux is saying an announcement he is making at X10 might piss off gamers. Could this simply be another ploy to get us hyped for Fable III? (I personally believe Peter and Lionhead are master marketers, I thought Fable II was going to be legendary jory glory justice :?)

Here is a good link explaining the predicament above: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/106/1067341p1.html

"Molyneux has promised to remove a traditional RPG mechanic from Fable III, the emphasis being on removing "clunkiness" and making the game more accessible"
So, if his potentially vexing announcement has to do with the quote above (from the wiki), then perhaps Fable III will be first person instead of Third. Probably not of course, just widly speculating!

I'll have thoughts about the game once theres more than three sentences of official info on the game thats actual solid info on the game. All we know is that it comes out this year and you'll be able to play as a king.

Well im going to pre-order it after i thoroughly enjoyed the second Fable.I put so many hours into it.I think the dissapointing thing will not be very dissapointing to most gamers.I think it will state that Fable 3 will not use the function of Natal.I think this because some people thought Fable 3 would be controlled with Natal after seeing Milo.

It's not that hard to make it better than Fable II. The game was hella short, awful cameras in co-op, way too easy to get money and wasn't a challenge at all. It was OK, but let's hope they improve for the next one.

I was excited for the game until I heard about it using Natal. I am going to give Natal a chance but I don't want it ruining good franchises like Fable, Halo, Gears of War, etc.

lion head just need to make sure they take all the negative things from fable 2 and improve on it. i ain't gonna be negative so ill talk about the great stuff from fable 2 - is it me or when ur in the spire its a bit like star wars, and all that lightning, that was my favorite bit of the whole game-AWESOME - the ending when ur with rose doing little tasks and the areas beautiful, then it gets deep when you leave to find the box blood dead bodies- AWESOME - who the hell is this mystic gypsy women really, i wanna know why is she here, why does she want the spire, why does she want u to be king in F3- AWESOME - buying stuff is cool, and having a job, lovely touch to the game, and the pub games, excellent idea, you can sell your home, rent it, get regular income - AWESOME - dye your cloths, buy some cloths, steal some cloths, sell some cloths, find some cloths, wear your cloths-AWESOME - demon doors and grand mansions and buildings with mission and quests inside- AWESOME - the feeling you get when you buy weapons, and smash peoples heads in- AWESOME - YOU DON'T DIE AND HAVE TO START OVER AGAIN-AWESOME - you can fast track everywhere - AWESOME - raise a family-AWESOME - you get a doggy, who finds condoms, chocolate and ruby's in the ground - AWESOME - buy potions and books - AWESOME - go shoping, get some bread, celery, pie, fish, whiskey-AWESOME - lots of different monsters and creatures to vanquish-AWESOME if they make sure all thats in their again but more of it, a lot more, make stealing and murder have deeper effects. rob houses, have more ways to make money, make sure your children grow up, and they can have children, swords and houses. and have better weapons then there they have another award winning game.

They talk the talk but they don't walk the walk. Thats it in a nutshell.

Before the Xbox came out they went on and on about how awesome Fable was going to be. Then its release was delayed. Then it finally came out and the hype didn't follow through. Same with fable II. I wish I only rented that one total waste of money. Playing it casually only took like three days to complete.

I agree about not delivering on promises, master marketers! Made me think Fable II was legendary glory jory justice. Fable II is beloved and dear to me, but it hurt to learn everything was far less then they made it seem.

As for your opinion I find my self wanting to troll against it, I'll try not to. I was far younger when I first played Fable I and was not exposed as much to any of the hype. From my perspective, they did an amazing job. Fable was a unique and enchanting experiance for me. Fable II is a game where if you need to take your time to maximize its worth, when I first played it I put 70 hours into it before completing the final quest.

Then again I'm very much a role playing type of gamer, I am the character I play on screen, so the Fable series may just be more up my alley.

I'm sorry it was a waste of money to even rent it for you, but it sounds like you didn't even give it a chance just because Lionhead did a good job of selling it (albeit, lying to us in the process).

Yeah i've completed it too. Did you get stuck on how to kill the giant enemy crab? It took me about 30 mins to realise you had to attack his weak point, for massive damage.

Everyyone always disagrees with what he says so if he says something that "will piss people off" maybe it will be something everyone will love. I was thinking that because I read it would be in the industrial age there may not be such a fantasy element to it, maybe n swords or magic. It could work totally different from others, using guns and something else.

Honestly, Fable 1 was only half decent because it was an entirely new app, and it brought something new. If you actually played through the entire game, it's a really shallow action/adventure RPG. It's hardly an RPG. And Fable 2, just made that more obvious. Graphics aren't up to par with this console generation's standards. And don't even get me started with Peter M. He hypes up everything, makes promises that we know will be broken. Fable 2 was such a shallow game. There's no depth. And the english accent voice overs are getting on my last nerves. The only thing that I actually liked about Fable 2 was the dog. I'm serious..

My point is, if Peter M. does something different or entirely different, I'd be a happy camper.

I know Fable 2 was a love/hate thing for most people, but I thought it was a good game. To be honest, I'm interested to see what Fable 3 is like, but I don't care about the natal support which might be included.

This is so true. I'm not going to hold out much hope for Fable III until I see solid proof. Personally, I feel the games have gotten worse. Fable I, while not what it was originally supposed to be, still turned out to be pretty good, then Fable II for me was meh, so all I keep thinking is Fable III is going to be bleh. Hoping not, but I don't have any faith in Molyneux.

Well before xbox was even released they were promoting Fable. I'm sure you can find some of the news articles because I read them on this website :) They really pushed the idea of watching your character grow up making it sound like an epic journey. Turned out to be a 20 minute tutorial at the most. I played Fable I to completion and even purchased the addition. Yeah it was enjoyable and a pretty good game but it never lived up to all the hype. Kind of like the star wars prequels if you know what I mean.

Yeah found the articles. Look up Fable for the Xbox then scroll down to the news articles and click to see them all and go back a few pages you'll find all the stuff about when Fable was developed. Originally it was known as Project Ego...

Neither Fable 1 (although it was a great game) or Fable 2 came even close to all the grand plans he had for them. Peter Molyneux is the master of giving gamers half of what he promised.......

Sounds like a lot of people dislike the Fable series because of all the failed promises. I just hope more people can look past that and enjoy the games instead of letting all the hype get to them.

Peter Molyneux is very much a man in his own little world. I believe he is geniune in passion for creating games, that what is in his mind proves to be too much for what developers can actually deliver in any timely manner. I would rather have at least one game developer that reaches for legendary innovation, even if they come short or fail, then to have another game that suceeds but does so by doing what everyone else is.

A respectable opinion since you didn't bash anyone who does. I just hope people understand that other people have different interests and tastes. What may be a bluthering bumbling game to some is a magical masterpiece to others.

Hailfire704

As did I, but I don't see it as them tricking me. I see it as me judging a game far before I actually played it. Luckily, I didn't let the dissapointment of buying into the hype ruin the game for me, it is still a great game (the general concensus among most reviewers, which I do find a heck of a lot more realiabe then the opinion of other gamers, people are stupid!).

I sincerely hope others can replay it without bias.

if he announces the combat any more simpler than it already is than that's gonna suck... :/

im not keeping my hopes high on fable 3... 2 was pretty good for the short time it lasted.. i expected a huge game with tones of caves and dungeons to explore like there was supposed to be.

im not gonna preorder it and go all crazy like i was for fable 2, and I hope there's no overpriced dlc for an extra hour or 2 of gameplay cuz then I won't buy it like how I didn't buy fable 2's.. and I forgot to mention I traded it in 3 days after I bought it cuz i alreayd beat it.. :/

I have been tempted to maybe get fable goty or whatever if it has all dlc and if I could find it for dirt cheap though cuz it was a good game, just that peter molyneux guy lies!

I just had a major epihany. Peter didn't lie to any of us. He simply has concepts and ideas that are grander then what can be developed. He is the creator, he says things that he wants implemented and forgets to listen to his PR guys, "Don't say anything stupid untill it's in the game!" He just has that much passion for his games, that what he wants is hinderd by money, current tech, and publishing issues (time).

Watch the current Fable III interviews with him, you'll see what I mean. To reiterate: He blurts his vision for the game as the actually end product. You can't blame him for having passion. I want that in my game developers. With Fable III, he seems to be constraining himself as he omits that much of what has already been said is the basic outline and inspiration for what he wants in the game. My faith in Peter has been restored and shame on those shunning his entuhsium.

He doesent lie, I thought he did as well! He just blurts his vision for game as the end product. He is the creator afterall, he has even admited to being overly passionate and blurting things he shouldnt.

What was said about Fable 1 and 2 from Peter was actually the vision he had for the game.

To be honest, I don't believe a word Molyneux's says anymore.

DecadesOfGaming

Not unreasonable, but I talk what he says with a grain of salt. What he says always comes true, just less then what he made it sound. I find he talks about what he wants to do as though it has already been done.

I wish I could say I was excited for Fable III, but considering how shallow Fable II was, I'm not expecting much. Fable II was fun and all, but after you relized nothing ever got any deeper than hit a to get money, it got boring. It was almost like Lionhead made the dog and said lets throw as much junk into this game as possible and sell it.

If the natal rumours are true then I don't care anymore and I'm going to cancel my pre-order.

[QUOTE="Hailfire704"]

I had really high hopes for Fable 2 and I ended up very disappointed, so no thanks. Lionhead will not trick me again.

MetalCore84

As did I, but I don't see it as them tricking me. I see it as me judging a game far before I actually played it. Luckily, I didn't let the dissapointment of buying into the hype ruin the game for me, it is still a great game (the general concensus among most reviewers, which I do find a heck of a lot more realiabe then the opinion of other gamers, people are stupid!).

I sincerely hope others can replay it without bias.

I played through Fable 2 once, and after I finished that play through the only real feeling that I came away with was disappointment.

  • I thought that the combat was made way to simple to the point where it had gotten boring about halfway through.
  • I hated the way that interaction with NPC's was reduced to dancing in front of them, making faces, farting, etc.
  • The game was way too easy and way too short
  • The last "boss" fight was just terrible. Walk in, shoot him, you're done.
  • I didn't like any of the characters except the dog

If you liked the game than that's great, but I didn't and not because it just didn't live up to the promises, I legitimately did not like it. I played through it because I wanted to give it a fair chance and I was hoping that it would get better, but it didn't.

Im not really excited at all. Fable 2 was ok but it imo it was too simple and easy. It coulds have been a lot better with more depth.

How much more accessible can you make Fable? It's RPG lite in every sense.
