Thats possible, there's lots of rumors regarding that. I hope it will have good exclusives though that catches my opinion(likings) of a game.My thoughts: people should stop automatically assuming that it will be called the 720. That's too obvious.

You sound so sure about yourself. Maybe new Handhelds.....The 3DS being one of them and the still rumored PSP2. Maybe eventually a Wii HD if Nintendo wants to stay on top but your not going to see another Xbox or PS untill another 4 to 5 years from now. They said it themselves. So I don't know where you got Next Gen will come much sooner. Why would anyone want it to come sooner?I don't because I want my money's worth in my consoles. 10 years is a good long life span that should go for every console that comes out. I hated spending only 5 years on a console and then getting another one so soon. It was a waste of money. I don't understand why people want newer gen consoles already. These consoles have barely reached their full potential. Maybe you people want to blow 500 to 600 on a new console every 5 years but I sure as hell don't.
Well after a 360, its 540, then 720 so why wouldn't they go to 540 if they would stick with going in complete turns, degree wise for names?
But anyway, from what I've heard I thought I seen where Microsoft said that they would just continue to update the 360 through out the future for awhile. And that the 360 is just to great of console to toss aside and start something brand new. Which I believe that, because its true, there is still alot that Microsoft could do to continue to update the 360 for the better.
For two complete turns it must be 720. A 540 would a complete turn and then a half. If they were to continue 720 would make sense. The 540 would only have made sense had they started with 180.Well after a 360, its 540, then 720 so why wouldn't they go to 540 if they would stick with going in complete turns, degree wise for names?

At one point I remember reading an article from some M$ exec's that they were going to treatt he Kinect as a "new" system instead of completely building a new console. This way they can comtinue to update the 360 because they felt they had just begun to discover its full potential. So they wouldn't even be looking at desgning a new system till 2012/2013 and possible production in 2015. Like everything this is rumors as well so you never truely know. However, it does make more sense to do this since a new console in the next year or two would limit their profit potential from the kinect. Also, if you look at the progress games are making from the introduction of the 360 till now you can still see improvements being made to graphics and new engines being designed.
We're not going to see a new console till 2015.

as soon as sales start to flag, we'll see a new one. Most likely is a new nintendo console. nowadays with pico-ATX technology (tiny motherboards), i am guessing we will see a wii HD style machine to replace the wii (but it will still be supported for mum's and dad's who only JUST found out about video games...like how new ps2 games still get released), except now technology has allowed manufactures to shrink 360/ps3 equiv technology down to wii size. check out AMD fusion's power to play AvP in DX11 mode with an intergrated GPU.....
if wii sales drop major this year even with Skyward sword, along with Kinect and Move sales increasing (honestly i can't see move taking off when we already HAVE a wii...) then Ninty will be the first to drop a new console that continues the wii tradition of being small and quiet, except now they have at least caught up on a graphics level for a little while.
Why 720? It could easily be named something else.
XboxGuy1537
Simple-minded folk, thought that would have been obvious.

As do I, in fact microsoft have stated and which there was a report on this very site around 12 months ago that they dont want to or will not release a new consoleuntill around 2015.
As for the TC if thats all you want to see on the next console your easily pleased.:D
Here is my list.
1.Full ipod support ( i cant seem to play anything i have downloded on i-tunes from my ipod via the 360 onlymusic i have burnt to i-tunes from my cdlibrary )
2.A much cleaner dasboard ( although easy to navigate some content is put in some weird places )
3.BBC iPlayer ( it wont happen and we already know the reasons why!! )
4.More content such as video interviews ect ect ( seem to be lacking alot considering the wealth of information on the internet and magazines )
5. Able to sign in profiles using one controller ( i transfered mine and my girlfriends profile to usb so we could play party games on my friends xbox but the cotroller is assigned to one profile )
6. Longer games and more exclusives.
Apart from that just better graphics and audio
We're not going to see a new console for awhile, and I'm fine with that. Microsoft already stated that the release of the new "s" model marked the halfway-point of the 360's lifetime, and while they may have just said it to encourage sales for the console, I don't think there's really much of a financial incentive to release a new console so quickly. Games don't really seem to be pushing the limits of the console's capabilities yet, and I don't think a lot of people are financially prepared to pick up the next generation of consoles yet. The only console-maker I can see releasing anything in the next two to three years is Nintendo.
I just want Xbox Live to be FREE. Thats all but also a better D-pad. Seriously though you got to admit that some where inside you, you want Xbox live to be free ;)

Well I'd imagine people would like xbl to be free. Lets see get something for free or pay money, if theres an option I'm going with free. But I don't see xbl being free, Microsoft loves there money and they're making plenty of it from there xbl service charges
With the release of Kinect it will be at least 4-5 more years until a new console is released. It might start being rumored or developed in like 3 years, but Microsoft and Sony both said they are moving towards longer term console cycles and both have mentioned 10-15 year cycles in the future. The Xbox 360 was released in August 2005 I believe so it will be 2015 at the earliest for an actual release.
The new controller with the twistable D-Pad is just fine and very sturdy.
With the way technology moves ANYTHING we would want now we wouldn't want in 4 more years so there is really no point in speculating.
Most of the feature we want can be added to the Xbox 360 pretty easily with software updates and that is how they will continue to prolong this current generation by releasing new things like Hulu Plus coming up, Kinect, more in the way of TV media, etc. They could give the 360 iPhone support with an update easily IF they wanted to.
Everything we would name can be done via software update for the 360.
The only thing worth talking about is on the hardware end like a 12 core CPU or better ram/graphics cards, but like I said in 4 years what we would want now won't be anything.
Here are some things that are REAL possibilites though:
1. ARM-Based CPU/GPU integration
2. Large Solid State Drives (Would virtually eliminate loading times)
3. Better HD media streaming support
I also believe if developers will go along with it that ALL games will be downloadable and no longer sold on discs (DVD or Bluray). Either that or sold in some sort of propietary MicroSD card format. Discs can be damaged and require the consoles to be much LOUDER and BIGGER than smaller SSD alternatives.
The Xbox 360 S would really be whisper quiet if it didn't have a disc drive and ALL games would load faster if they were on SSD drives or cards.
Plus the 360 S could be half the size without the need for a large disc drive.
Those are real possibilites.
A better name than 720? vashkeythats what im saying its not gonna be called that lol 360 is called what it is ,As various Microsoft executives have noted, Xbox 2 is a fine name until you realize that Sony's next machine will be called the PlayStation 3, which sounds newer and more powerful. The Xbox 360 name was chosen to imply that the gamer is at the center of the Xbox experience.

and there we go.. :) my thoughts excactly. themicro-sd idea in particular.. i'm not very techics-bright, so i don't know if they could be made pirate-proof in any way though :S that's my only problem with the idea.. :)
http://www.tcmagazine.com/tcm/news/misc/34598/ibm-and-arm-plan-14nm-mobile-chips-through-renewed-agreement
keep an eye out for this news fella's, whether its relavant to the xbox 720 or even wii 2 since everyone out now uses IBM chips.
This, MS will want to time its release right, to hit sony hardest. That and the hardware jump if it were released now wouldn't be worth it.We're not going to see a new console till 2015.

As for CPU + GPU thing, they are not strong enough, they are for notebooks. If you want to have higher performance, better have them seperate with seperate heat sinks because they gonna get hot. If you put CPU and GPU together, due to temperature, their design and performance is limited.magicalclick
um have u looked inside the Xbox S? the CPU and GPU are together :D becasue the chips have shrunk so much in size, mSoft was able to combo them togetehr to save money.
5 years- i dont think so i say 2 and a half , support will continue /might til 3 and a half
but heres all i want
built in wifi
free hd cables-or bc with 360s av cables would be even better
- bc with all 360 games-so if my 360 rrods i can just use that
- bigger hard drive at the start-say like 500 gig to 750 gig ,
- graphics look fine as they are just add 3d for people who want to go out and spend the money on the tv , --and make sure the console cost-less then 400 dollars or have 2 models 1 with everything-same price as 360-400
the other without-same price as core-300
as i said graphics dont realy make a game and we have good graphics already ,
we just need the most important part
a more reliable console

Microsoft tends to be a ripoff sometimes, I'd go with free though but theres no way thats gonna happen When/If a new xbox comes. Microsoft is a huge rich company but I hope for good exclusives like there is currently on the xbox 360.I'm guessing fall 2012, or Spring 2013
Probably a similar CPU, maybe Quad and 2GB RAM, 500GB HDD, WiFi, better D-Pad, improved NXE (would it be Old XE by then?)
Kinect bundled in somehow

my predictions are a hexa-core powerPC chip, probably down to at least 32nm, but if we area lucky it'll be 28nm. but having hte hexa-core desing of essentially the same CPU should be 100% backwards comp becasue the chip will just switch off half its self and "turn into" a 360 a la Wii playing GCN games down clocks into a GCN.
