Thresher Maws problems

I have run through Mass Effect twice and now I am going for the hardcore achievement award. I have run into my second wall at this level. The first being the assault you have to do to get in the mine shaft to get Liara. I had a hard time finding a new "sweet spot" to maintain good cover and kill off the snipers and Geth trooper before taking down the big boy. Any ways, I discovered that the Thresher Mawsof this game play level can light up the Manko pretty well with one acid shot. I have tried to jump over the spit with no luck... it still hits. And every time I try to get in to a position were I can drive forward and backward to miss the spit, the maw goes back into the ground. Anyone have a good stratagem for this reoccurring enemy?

Yeah best tactic is drive around in wide circles and fire, its kind of fidgity and hard at first but once you get used to it you can own thresher maws with ease.

It took me about 8 hours playing the game before i realized that the Mako actually has a zoom much like a sniper scope.

Yeah me too... they did a horrible job of introducing the mako's gameplay. Of course that just made finding the added functionality cooler...

One of my buddies completed the game and was on his 2nd playthrough before he realized you could do it, he only found out because i randomly figured it out while trying to see if it was possible to zoom in more.

I bet we are the kind of people who dont read manuals, and build flatpack furnature without looking at the instructions.

Actually i have no idea if it tells you in the manual, i just glanced through it and didnt really read the controls.

on hardcore and insane one hit from a maw kills drive in a circle cannon twice in the head then move repeat

save alot but only real threshers are in the marine mission and the first encounter
