Haven't played 08, but I have 07. They changed the control mechanics for the swing in 08. Might as well get the newest one. By the way, you may want to rethink your sig. You'll be waiting for a long time.
Definately roll with 08. Sooo much better. The bad reviews are really wrong. At the time though there were significant bugs that shouldn't have been there... but the 2 patches since have fixed it completely. I love it. Challenging enough to drive you nuts on some of the Tiger Challenges, but never too hard where you want to give up. The best thing is that it's not too easy. Hated that in earlier versions... in one weekend I'd have a maxed player and would always hit perfect shots.
you gotta get 08, you can create a player by uploading high quality digital photos of you to GamerNet online, then downloading them through the game, my guy looks almost exactly like me
