You could get an intercooler. It's not that expensive (I think mine was about $19 CDN) and it has 3-4 extra fans. It's really loud though.

I haven't really had a problem with my intercooler being too loud.

It's definitely much louder than a 360 normally is.

Yeah because it adds fans to it, but mine isn't so loud that it bothers me

I'm on 360 #3 for me. I should mention that all my 360's stay on top of my media rack in the open air.
Number 1 was vertical with a intecooler three red lights. Lasted about 14 months. Number 2, no intercooler, horizontal- three red lights lasted 2 months. Number 3 is two weeks old, and still kicking so far. No intercooler
I have a friend that is on number 7, and another that is on number 5. Bottom line its going to break no matter what. Best to get an extended warrenty. The intercooler makes no difference IMO. I've used a IR temperature gauge on the 360 with and without the intercooler, and its only a few degrees cooler. Not enough to warrant the purchase IMO.

intercoolers dont help i read here gamespot that the problem withe them braking is the proccessor chip's(or something )holders or supporters melt from getting to hot and the fansare saidthat theydont cool thatarea for some reason. Also buying the intercooler voids your warranty.

extended warrranty is the best offer rather buy an intercooler. Microsoft does extended their warrany to 3 year, but it will takes at least 2 weeks to get ur new 360. buy warranty from a store might just take one day. Anyway, I heard that the intercooler will melted to the 360. so it'll void the MS warranty, but not sure about store warranty.

Like someone said, its gonna break no matter what you do. Mine was kept in perfect condition, adult owned, no pets, no smoke, well venitilated, it broke after 8 months. Most seem to break at the 8-10 month period. The best thing you can do is exchange it for an elite. Thats what I did. The elites don't seem to suffer the 3 rings of death like the crappy white models do.

so r u saying the elite has been fixed by MS. cause i'm thinking to buy elite cause the color and GB. but if they really fix the 3 ring problem, it'll be GREAT!!!

Mine's 7 months old or so, and I've no problems to report other than a brief spell of the red lights after my bro tried to connect it to our projector.

lol i think im the first to say ive had mine since launch and its still perfect, it been through trips etc but never had any red rings

some tips:

dont move it while it on, keep in well ventalated area, avoid intercoolers, undust the machine every few weeks/keep it clean, dont put it in a place where it might fall, make sure your house is not burning hot, keep it a little cool so it works good with the machinery.

thats about all i can come up with
