Are you annoyed by high voices crackling into your ear? Sick of little Timmy trash talking like he's thirty three? Peeved by "gangstas" blasting their "killin beats"? Suffer no more, because Microsoft has created an amazing feature that removes these people from your sensitive ears forever!

They call it: the "Mute" button. Top notch Microsoft developers have designed the Xbox 360 User Interface so that players can easily access the annoyer's gamercard and, with a few button presses, select the "Mute" function. This "Mute" function permanently silences all voice communication with the selected user so that you never have to hear them again!

Although the time to "Mute" a selected person is a meager 8-10 seconds (enough time to "Mute" someone between rounds in the popular title "Gears of War"), current game developers are making it even easier by allowing faster access of a player's gamercard or, like in the popular title "Halo 3", mute a player by simply holding "Back", highlighting their name, and pressing X to instantly mute them!

Also, if a player is acting especially mischievous, you can choose to submit a player review, or "feedback". With proper utilization of "feedback", a player can be temporarily or permanently "Muted", unable to communicate disruptively.

So the next time little Johnny forgets to take his pills, remember: "Kids not cute? Use the 'Mute'".

/condescended tone

Seriously, why cant people just learn to mute annoying people right away so they dont have to deal with them? ITS SO EASY! People complain about little kids running around Xbox Live chainsawing people and having fun doing it, and they dont realize that they can just shut them up themselves. You might say "but-but-but i cant mute them i'm too busy pwning them and they still talk smack even though i rape them and they suck dik." Just think about it. Choose between getting pissed off and possibly quitting xbox live because mini-nerds like to mouth off, or losing 5-10 seconds in a game (less than a second in Halo 3) to shut them up forever. Heck, if you're too lazy just turn your mic volume down in .02 seconds!

And please, stop whining about how there's so many. Its partly your own fault (majority of 360 gamers=adults/young adults, therefore many of you may have kids who could end up like little Timmy taking "his" sniper by betraying you.)

I think we've all already knew about the mute button so you did'nt have to write an essay about it.

@ tc

I know what you mean, I hate playing games where there is one annoying kid screaming his head off, so i mute him only to have another annoying guy start complaining about the first annoying person.

I don't really mind hearing these kids with tiny voices because we all started playing videogames from similiar ages butthe only differense isthey have xbox live and mics, ha. I just don't like people playing loud music through their headsets. So muting is the best choice.

The problem with having "witty retorts" is that it just adds fuel to the fire. Kids will act annoying and arrogant because they want to be cool and all the big boys do it so why dont they?

Plus, if a kid says "oh i owned you" and an adult mocks him by repeating his words in a squeaky voice impersonation, the adult is resolving it by the preschooler method, making himself look just as stupid.

I believe i know a lot about this topic because i have had friends who sing and annoy everyone and he enjoys it. If we all just mute him and forget about it he'll learn.

Although sometimes it is kinda fun to "pwn little ten year olds" we shouldnt overdo it, because sometimes that makes it worse.

the problem i have with muting people is that with games becoming more and more team based (R6V, Shadowrun, Gears of War), muting people will ruin the teamwork. if the kid that you are muting sucks at the game... then its not a problem, but you do get those kids who can be useful... except they are really annoying on the mic.

those ppl mocking are the ones i think are the just as annoying. maybe if you didn't react so negatively to their every squeaky word they wouldn't be sooo annoying?
