Should I just go ahead and buy a 360? The sales person can guaratee me a console with the BenQ disc drive. Do they scratch discs? Does it overheat?

If he can guarantee you a BenQ drive defintely do it, if not still do it, but I hear BenQ drives are da streetz!11!!! I want one bad. No they don't scratch disks or overheat, just keep it and the power brick will ventilated and horizontal.
