This has probably been asked before, but my searches didn't yield results. I have an old 20gig premium xbox360 and it has composite connectors. I recently got a 52 inch 1080p 120hz LCD HDTV. Is there a noticable difference in video and/ or sound between HDMI and composite? I'm trying to determine whether the HD space, HDMI, and cool blackness are worth spending the money on to upgrade. I await your answers with bubbling glee.

If your saying buying an elite just for that I wouldn't buy the elite for it, but I would buy the HD cables, if I misunderstood what you were saying ( which I sure I was) sorry.

Why would I buy high def cables when the pro doesnt have an HDMI port?

I asked the same questions when the Elite's first launch and hopefully my answer will help you. Ultimately your television will determine the video performance using HDMI. The sound may or may not be improved using HDMI, as this is all dependent on the speaker performance for the television. You didn't mention a 5.1 speaker system in your setup, so the only thing that may improve is the resolution and picture quality. I believe you can receive a quality image upgrade just updating your video cables to component cables. I think that would be enough to improve your visuals dramatically The only reason I purchased an Elite is because my intially system stop working, other wise I wouldn't have upgraded. You can purchase a set of Philips component cables for $20 - $30 that have several connections for Wii, PS3, etc..... I used this cables for quite some time and was happy for the visual performance. Good Luck

Hi-Def cables doesn't necessarily mean HDMI, please do some searching. You can buy component cables and get 1080p displayed as long as your TV supports 1080p thru component. I suggest this if your only endeavor is to upgrade the video.

However, I still have my day one 360 but never gets used because I did the upgrade to an Elite (HDMI, HDD capacity, and color) when it came out, and I must say I wouldn't do anything differently if i could do it again ;)

I say it really depends on how much you play your 360, if you play it quite a bit then I'd say go for it since the extra memory is certainly nice.

I have the same dilemma. I just wish there was some reasonable way to really upgrade your 360. (give away old + pay some, get elite)

My TV is displaying 1080 through component, but my Blu Ray is 1080 through a high quality HDMI cable and it is very very crisp.

Hdmi is better then component, fact. 20gb is not enough, fact. Black is beautiful, fact. You don't need opions you need facts. Fact is it's called an Elite for a reason, good luck.

well if you want to play hi-def you should buy the elite but if your not willing to buy an entire new console i suggest that you buy the component cable it's better than composite

I just got my elite this Saturday ~ I have played diff. 360 models on my friends consoles and I agree with those that are saying get the elite ~ It runs a lot smoother and you can dl a lot more of your games to the hd for slower loading times plus a lower chance of getting the red ring of death ~ I am very happy with mine so far! ~
