Rainbow Six hands down, going back to the Red Storm days. Splinter Cell was decent at the start, but has become more repetitive with each installment. Never really cared for the Ghost Recon games as much. I always felt they should be more open and far less linear. Give me an objective and a huge map. Let me decide how to get there and how to do the job. Don't force me down a pre-determined path packed with scripted events and enemies. Same could be said for the latest Rainbow games too.
It was tough, but I gave my vote to Rainbow Six for nostalgia's sake. The first Rainbow Six was groundbreaking enough to create its own subgenre. Heck, I think I still have my original copy and the Eagle Watch expansion. It's nice became Ghost Recon became an offshoot of what Rainbow Six had accomplished and was successful in their own right.
At the end of the day, I prefer the close quarters battles and the room clearing mechanics better than the open battlefield.
