Tony Hawks or Skate, which do you prefer?

Personally I prefer Tony Hawks with my favourites being Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and Tony Hawks Project 8. I just don't like skate because of the physics, I prefer the unrealistic physics of Tony hawks. Guess its like marmite, you either love it or you hate it right? Anyway, Tony HAwks PS3 and Project 8 for me, how about you?

Skate blows away every tony hawk game except the first, because time-relatively speaking that game kicked butt.

As much as I enjoyed the original Tony Hawks game, I do prefer the reaslism of Skate. Being an ex-skateboarder myself (too old to do it now), I enjoy performing realistic tricks in a game instead of trying to get long combos of endless grinds and flips etc. The fluidness of the Skate 2 Demo was spot on for me, so I will most likely get the game at some point!

i like how realistic skate is. I have not purchased a tony hawk game since N64 but i have played a few and they are fun but i have to say skate is over the top.

Depends, Skate has the realism aspect and Tony Hawk has the long-time, wow wtf, effect that I still love (though I haven't played the newer games recently).

I did that this past weekend, and even though I hadn't played a skate game since Skate or Die for the NES (lol), I walked away very impressed. It's damn fun.

im not really into skating in general and i perfer the more "over the top" game play of TH (1-4 being the best IMO)

The first 4 Tony Hawk games were good. But the series has pretty much worn out it's welcome. I prefer the Skate games now, they're fantastic.

Skate is by far the game I prefer. I love the realism and just the world of skateboarding it portrays. The gameplay is way better overall too I think and the controls are amazing!

i liked the first 6 tony hawk games and after that it kinda got boring with all the stuff they added. (backflips in AW...)

after skate i don't think i'll ever play another new TH game again :P

Well I never really played skate.. I would prefer, just by looking at them both, I would still have more fun playing Tony Hawk games, but now..I would prefer to just get a real skate board and skate, but I don't care for the sport honestly.. but I would prefer Tony Hawk

Skate or die?....Nice.....What freaking great memories...That and 720 in the arcades...I thought it could never get better

I played Skate and completely enjoyed the experience...after playing the Sk2 demo....I was very happy with all the new features/tricks they added...They really built upon as great formula ....I just wish they gave us longer than 7 minutes..

They're both great, I have to say a tie. Tony Hawk PS 4 was my all time favorite tony hawk game because it was the first game that you could play career mode while riding around freely.

I liked Tony Hawk in its early days. But I haven't been into the series since about 4. I haven't liked the new ones at all. I like Skate and the demo for Skate 2 quite a bit. I like the realism in these games compared to Tony Hawk, which I think is what's key for me. Eventually, I didn't care to pull off the longest, craziest combo I could in Tony Hawk. Skate is a lot more like real skating. It's about setting up lines, and the difficulty lies in nailing the perfect run. You could argue the same is true with Tony Hawk, but it usually comes off feeling a lot more satisfying in Skate. So, I prefer Skate.

I definitely prefer Skate. It captures the culture of skateboarding better than the TH games ever had. The TH series turned into more of an action game rather than a skateboarding game when THUG2 came out; the stuff you were doing was so outlandishly different than what skateboarding is about. Skateboarding is not about riding mechanical bulls and throwing tomatoes at pedestrians.

Haven't played skate but I can tell you that Tony Hawk went down the drain after around 4. 3 was really the last big deal to me.
