People on this forum, and also it seems in the gaming press, are far too eager to predict review scores and popularity of games that haven't been released. If you have two good games that come out on the same day, it's difficult enough to predict which one will have more market saturation, after you've already played them.

Isn't thant the point? If there's one fundamental human need, it's to be right. People love to be right about things and hate to be proven wrong. Crtics are paid because of their skills in predicting/judging if a product is (or is going to be) hot or not.

I read GameSpot far more than any other gaming news publication, and I think you'll be hard pressed to demonstrate that GameSpot predicts which games will be good, and which ones won't. Gamings previews here, and in much of the mainstream press, are always positive, examining a game's development and features in an upbeat fashion. Rarely, however, will a GameSpot preview suggests that a game will dominate online popularity. I say "rarely," though I can't think of any examples where I've read something like this. I certainly can't think of any previews where GameSpot has said "X game will be better than Y game."
Professional critics judge games in relation to others, and the industry as a whole, based on finished products. People pop up on forums with polls like "Will Deus Ex 3 be better than Bioshock 2?" Attempting to accurately judge the relative merits of two games that will not be released for multiple quarters is next to impossible given the number of variables involved and the paucity of information with which to refine them. It's a futile investigation, and one that should not be taken too seriously.
how will it destroy?
one comes out in august, the other in november. ones a action rpg and the other is a third person shooter.....ill probably get both.

Ya, that seems like a really credable source. What a waste of time.
Did I miss something where Too Human got really popular all of a sudden?
Last I read about it, there were not too many great things to say about the game once everyone saw it in action. I cancelled my preorder sometime last year. I'm gonna predict a "no" on destroying GofW2, since the 1st one worked so well.

Ok Too Human is going to be good, but its nothing like Gears its ridiculous to compare them. Too Human is an RPG not a shooter. Most people that play Gears play it for the MP, and the people that are going to be playing TH are going to be playing it for SP.
this game may not destroy gears of war, but it looks like it will be getting some of my time...coop shooter/rpg...cant go wrong with that
this game better be good or the game studio that makes it will hate their last 10 years or so of making it haha

totally agree. Any amount of hype, or maybe if the screenshots or vids look good, people go crazy with predictions. They should start betting on this stuff, that would add even more money to the industry.
