In roughly a month i will be stepping out of my advanced scrimping techniques and heading to the nearest EB and buying a 360 however with all the varying 360 systems, i'm a little confused on what to choose. The fear of the RROD has put me off any basic model or a used console at that, but what are the little kinks that microsoft doesn't tell you. What features are necessary and which one are a waste of space and overall what is the best option? CHEERS!

I recently purchased a 360 and went for the elite.

Not only is it the best bang for your buck I figure I'll never have to worry about having enough disk space.

if you were to buy a core, then the hdd etc, you would end up spending more then if you just went out and bought the premium console.

The elite is only of interest to anyone that has a HDMI tv and is going to use the movie service.

Halo console, basically premium, but has wireless headset, play and charge kit included, no media remote like premium. The premium doesnt have the wireless headset or play and charge.

If you can find a console made after batch 734 I believe they have the new hardware.

if you want the 120GB hdd, but dont wanna buy elite, you can pick that up seperately. There is no need for the 120GB unless you are using the movie service IMO.

If you don't plan on downloading a lot of videos or demos, then the Premium is good, but if you are big on downloads, and black, then the Elite is best.

it runs cooler, new heatsink design and different clamping to the cpu/gpu to stop the xclamp problems that were originally happening.

I put one of those plastic bottles of water in the freezer, and when i sit down to play i put the frozen bottle of water on a rag infront of the intake on the 360. but now that its getting colder outside i dont bother with it.

I deffinatley wouldnt go for the core.

The elite has very little changed. You wont notice any graphical difference as its only the tiniest bit better. You wont need that much hard drive unless you plan on downloading a lot of movies, demos or putting a lot of music on your 360.

So imo i would go for the premium. Not long till christmas so bundles will be out soon.

I have the Halo console and it doesn't have a wireless headset, just a regular wired one that is green like the console. The Halo console also has an HDMI port like the Elite.
