Well, I figured it was best that I post this on the 360 forums because you all would focus on what I would get out of the 360 more than why the PS3 is "better" etc.

I've had my PS3 since last December, and I've been enjoying it quite well, but after I most recently got the Error of Doom (yes, we have our own version of the Red Rings of Death,) Error 80010514, which means my blu-ray drive has failed, I've been thinking of switching sides.

I'm a competitive gamer at heart, and I know the 360 with Gamertags, Achievements (I think the PS3 trophies are too little, too late,) and overall setup of online gameplay is much better, even if I do have to pay for it.

Now, I also use my PS3 for videos that I stream from my computer, or download onto the hard drive. Does Microsoft allow you to put/play Divx videos on the 360? How easy is streaming media to the 360? Such as music, video, pictures, etc.

But another thing I'm worried about, is I know Microsoft has said they will NOT be coming out with a Blu-Ray adapter for the 360, which makes me worry about the future of games for the system. I know that Forza 3 is going to have to be on two discs because of the fact the DVD's just can't cut it for space anymore, which means that developers will have to start cutting back on important things just to make it fit.

I also have a decent amount of games that I purchased for the PS3, and I'm not sure if I could get my investment BACK on all of those things. Such as Rock Band, which I would still want to get for 360, or wait until RB2, but either way it's difficult.

So my question is, is it worth making the switch THIS late in the game? I know PS3 fans are going to think I'm a traitor, and don't get me wrong, I loved my PS3, but I don't really have any exclusives or anything big to look forward to anymore, except for GT5, and even then when I rented a 360 for a week, I enjoyed Forza 2 more than Prologue. Also, is it worth making the switch if I'm taking a loss financially as well? I have to wait to get a reciept anyways or bug them telling them it happened after I installed 2.4 (which is true,) because it's been happening to a LOT of people. So once it gets fixed and back to me, should I make the switch to one of the new Pro 60gb's? Or just keep with what I've got.

Thank you all!

I went through exactly the same issue. I bought a PS3 and thought it was amazing until a 360 was purchased and put in the house. After ending up spending more time on the 360 (even though it wasn't mine) i decided to sell the PS3 with the games i had and buy a 360 elite.

It was a great decision becuase xbox live is so much better than PS3's online services even if you have to pay £40. It is so easy to play with your friends because you can access the dashboard simply by pressing the central xbox button on the controller without leaving the game you are playing. Also gamerscore and achievements are excellent because the achievements give you something to do when you don't have a new game to play on and it is nice to see a large gamerscore that you have earnt.

Overall i think that the 360 is a much better choice even though the PS3 does have the blue ray player; because the players will probably be much cheaper in a couple of years anyway. What with xbox live, achievements, gamerscore and great exclusive games like bioshock, gears of war 1 and 2, halo 3 and mass effect the xbox beats the PS3 hands down.

I would just keep the PS3 because your gonna end up taking a huge financial loss which IMO is just not worth it. Plus you already have games for your PS3 I'm assumming and you will lose even more money off that. If you really want a 360 i think you should try to keep you PS3 and buy the 360. That way you won't regret anything.

Since your PS3 has the "ERROR" I don't think you could sell it. What I would do is sell the games, seeing how you cant play them and buy a 360, which is better for the online-multiplayer-competetive gamer that you are. I think the PS3 is better in alot of ways, personally, but the 360 gives you much more bang for your buck.

Well I would intend on getting the PS3 sent in and fixed first before selling it. I would like to TRY to sell it as one big bundle, but I highly doubt that I could. But my issue with the Blu-Ray Coded12, is that 360 games only have roughly 9gb to work with, where-as PS3 games have 50gb. Not to mention that if 60gb isn't enough, I'd have to buy a HDD from Microsoft, instead of with a PS3 where I could pay the same price and get a 320gb laptop drive that would work. So again, I want to make sure that my decision is good now, AND in the future.

As far as BluRay goes... XBOX is just fine without it, Sure you dont have as much space but that hasent stoped them from making great games. I still think its worth it, you get alot of great games.

I was torn between buying a ps3 or a 360a month ago. I spent some time playing my friend's 360s and ps3s and decided that the 360 may not be as technically superior, but it certainly beats the ps3 in online capabilites, ease of use, and fun(espcially with gears of war that game's awesome). Plus the 360 controller is about 300 times better than the ill-designed sixaxis ps3 controller. Also, with achievements and gamerscores, the 360 makes games just that much more lengthy.

You'll enjoy your 360 much more than your PS3. Xbox 360 feels more natural.

i would get the 360 PS3 is weaakkk..i bought one and sold it right away because 360 is sooo much better. I don't need blurays really no need to watch any movie on bluray...you can rent on the marketplace HD movies and buy HD tv shows and lots of them. Also with netflix coming to it you can get a lot of movies from that. Idk for some reason i couldnt get as good of a wireless signal on my 360 with verizon as i could on ps3 and when i would stream videos it would lag but i want a game console. If i feel i need a $400 movie player i might consider getting PS3 again but right now i have absolutely no need.

Well as for the warranty part, I'm technically out of warranty because I bought it secondhand, and don't have the reciept.

BUT I have heard stories of people getting Sony to fix it out of warranty because it happened after firmware 2.40, so I'm going to try that.

But again, it all depends on if I can find a buyer for the system and all the stuff that I have. Like Rock Band, COD4, AC, etc. etc. As long as I can buy the 360, get Halo 3, COD4, and Forza 2, I'll be a happy camper.
