Hi guys , i got last mounth the 3 red lights and i didnt wanted to sent my xbox cuz gta iv was going to come out the following week so i decide to do the towel trick ... i saw a video in youtube and they said it would work for 5 or 6 days but i did it 3 weeks ago and it still works !!! how does it come ? has anyone experience this before ? PD sorry about my english , i know it sucks
i guess you got really lucky. when ever my 360 red lighted i did the towel trick and got a few days out of it, but thats it. good luck with your system bro.
Hadn't seen the video before and was surprised how easy it was to do.
That said, given the warranty for RROD has been extended to 3 years, every current 360 is covered, unless you voided the warranty, so why not just return it and get it fixed for free? Maybe use it to keep playing another week or two for a new game, but surely if it proves to be faulty, and you're covered by warranty, just send it back for a new one.
I came into this thread hoping I could be all smart ass an say wait 2 days or something, when I tried it (I did it for the same reason as you, because of GTA launch, although I just got a copy on Thursday.. long story) anyway when I did it, I didn't read anything about it breaking again I was just all bent on trying it, it worked, but then the next day it broke, if yours breaks again just take it to the shop you got it from and get a new one, thats what I did
Although that trick may work with some XB360s, it is only a temporary fix. You still might want to consider shipping out back to Microsoft, otherwise you risk of getting those pesky red-rings again! :(
