The towel trick didn't void the warranty for me. I sent it in and I got another one back just fine. As long as you don't tell, they'll never know.

my 360 broke a few months ago, and i used the towel trick to get it to work. i sent it back when the box came, and nothing was charged to me and my warranty was NOT voided. you're safe brah.

To answer your question man, my friend did it and when he got his box just sent it in. They didn't notice anything and within a week he had a new 360.

of course it doesn't void the warranty.

you aren't opening the system, and there is absolutely no possible way to tell if you ever did it. If Microsoft can't tell that you did anything to the system, then they can't hold it against you. It's not like wrapping a towel around a system is going to leave physical traces anywhere.

I just did the towel trick for the 3rd time yesterday. I'm going out of the country on the 27th and will wait to send it in to MS right before I leave and just have my neighbor get it when it comes back.

It would not since most people who get the red rings its because the parts have over heated inside so using the towel trick wont make it look any different.

In the words of a famed sports equipment manufacturing company, just do it. There is no way for them to tell unless you blow it up or melt it or something, which isn't likely to happen.

as long as you dont stick anything in it, open it up, or make it look like it has been abused, you are fine

Sorry about the bump, but I have 2 questions.

It is the second time I'm doing the towel trick. If I send it in while its still working, like bootable and before it breaks again, will they send the same one back to me?

Also will a broken memory card slot make it look like its been abused?

yes you will get it back. my friend toweled his 360 3 or 4 times before sending it back, and he got a brand new one from MS is like a week.
