I believe if you read the small print, it says something about "games only of a certain value" or something like that, so technically they make it look good, but really it's only free if the games equal the amount of the new one.
Try anyways though, I find it all depends on who's working that day...stupid EB
i really dont see the point of trading in games at all. even if you dont play a game anymore currently, you think you wont ever want to revisit it? i have over 120+ games for my xbox1 and over 35+ games for my 360. trading in a 360 game for a couple dollars is completely retarded. your choice tho, waste your goods if you want to. i in the mean time will be building up my collection.
