I'm a bit disappointed because I went out and got another 360 to transfer my own saves to (the rest of my family filled up our first with DLC they refuse to let me delete), but some of my saves gave me problems.

Before I go on though, I will say I'm using a memory card instead of a kit, though I can't really afford to go out and get anything else to transfer saves with right now.

The ones I had problems with were...

1.) Rockband 1 & 2, and Guitar Hero World Tour. These I don't really care about, I don't play them too often.
2.) My Fable II save. It kept saying it couldn't be transfered to a storage device, both when I tried to copy it and just move it. Finially it allowed me to move (not copy ]: ) the file, and it's now safe and sound on my new 360. Really wish I could've had it on both 360s though.
3.) My most important game save, my DOA save, simply wont allow me to copy or move the file. I tried also copying the game updates first (which it did let me do), but it wont let me transfer the save data itself. I've a huge amount of time put into DOA, and I only need the survival achievements and ranks A - SS, which I was hoping to do all of when I got the new 360 in my room and would have more time to spend on it. So yeah, pretty lousy not having the save on the 360 I'll be using from now on.

Is there just really no way to transfer this file? =/

The only advice i can give if you have not tried it yet. Wipe all of the game updates from you xbox using the clear cache code found here...

This will ensure that you are only copying game data and not updates from your xbox. Not sure if it will work but might help.

I transferred my DOA4 save from my old 20GB drive to a new 120GB HDD without any kind of problem. I didn't try to do it with a memory card though, I used the data transfer kit included with the new drive. Maybe your save data is corrupted or something.

Or it could also be some sort of copy protection to avoid players copying game saves, some time ago I tried to copy my saves of DOAU and DOAX (original Xbox) to another Xbox, but the system wouldn't even give me the option to copy the saves to a memory card. It's possible that Tecmo did something similar to copy-protect the saves on DOA4.
