I'm not too concerned about the RROD as much as I am my unit being as quiet as possible. I had a launch unit and it bugged me a lot how loud it was. Is the main cause of the noise more the DVD drive, or is it the fans running to cool down the processors? Is the new Jasper model going to be the most quiet, or should I be looking for a Falcon with a specific DVD drive?

Don't think any 360 will be quieter than any other.I had a launch Premium 20 GB and now a Pro with 120Gb i added and both noisy as each other!

I felt that my Elite is less noisy then my launch system though that could all be in my head as my H3 edition is just as loud if not louder then my Elite

I think the majority of the noise comes from the DVD drive and the newer versions have a quieter drive.

Could you be more specific about which models?

I bought mine last August. It doesn't make any noticeable noises when I play.

Not too mention with the fall update you can copy your games to the hdd and dont have to worry about the dvd drive noise.

I'm trying to figure out how this works. Is it just like how the PS3 downloads part of the game to the harddrive? Guess I should invest in a 120 GB HD!

From what I understand it copies the game fully to the hdd, All you have to do is have the disc to make sure you legally own it in the drive. So, the only time the drive will spin is to validate the disc during startup.

Dang, how much HD is that going to take up per game??!! I would think around 8-10 GB.

Roughly 8.5 gigs. Not meant to store your whole collection but you can put quite a few. Pretty much keep on the hdd what you play the most.

I'm assuming you have a Falcon. Did you buy your Elite recently?

In June I bought an Arcade model from a local game store called C&C Games in Bowling Green Ohio that had just been sent back to Microsoft, since this store does that with every trade in system they recieve. It is very quiet, makes almost no noise, even when the drive is spinning. I've heard the systems can be very loud, but mine isn't

All of the newer 360s are really quiet. I have bought all three versions in the past 6 months (arcade, pro, and elite), and there is NO comparison to the pro I bought 2 years ago.

just get a 60gb or a elite and you should be fine, how quiet it is though ,, who knows
