I really need a new microphone, the cheap xbox Microsoft mics keep breaking though I did find some high end mics (not like turtle beach though) on tigerdirect.ca for a cheap price. I still wanna purchase a turtle beach head phone though, and the X11 seems like the best choice because of the affordable price and its not wireless so no charging or annoying batteries. I have some issues with it though, would playing with the headphones make it more difficult to hear people talking? Since the gameplay and voice chat is all in 2 speakers. Another thing Im wondering is do the headphones allow you to turn the game volume down to 0 and the voice chat volume up? It looks like they have 2 volume controls on the headphones so Im assuming they do, but I could be wrong. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/turtle-beach-turtle-beach-ear-force-headset-x11-8053869/10146387.aspx?path=fcb4c1529f5565f005b0deaef813d00den02 Just copy and paste the link. Would really like some opinions on this, I will really appreciate it.

Well worth it, they play tv sounds via the headset too so its perfect for late night gaming. Plus the sound is crystal clear so if you play shooters you can hear which direction the shots come from. Overall the price for them is minimal and they are designed to last.

Got a pair myself and would recommend them. Use mine so I can actually hear what's going on while the family is sleeping. They do have independent game and voice volume adjustment.

My rooms in the basement though, so it doesn't matter how loud my tv is most of the time since none of my family can hear it anyway. It has separate controls for voice volume (when you hear other players) and game volume right?

Yup, you can change both volume and chat volume. Also, yes they do cancel out noise so when your parents are going to call you to dinner you might want to keep one ear cup off.

I bought a pair of nice PC headphones and just bought an adapter so I can use them with my xbox. If play on PC, too, it's a much cheaper alternative to owning two headphones:

If you take into account that an Xbox mic costs about $20 and you will go through 2-3 of them a year, it makes a LOT more sense to get a high quality headset like the X11 that is much more durable and will last longer. I actually have an X11 and an X41--and they are both incredible headsets. I have gotten so much better at MW2 just because I have Turtle Beaches. You can literally hear EVERYTHING around you. My parents have a pretty expensive surround sound speaker system, but I use the X41 all the time because it helps out more. Kinda hard to explain, but I think it's because the sound is so close to your ears when you're wearing a Turtle Beach. With speakers, you have to crank up the volume REAL loud to hear anywhere close to as much as you can with a headset. So I say hell yea--go for it. The X11 will save you money over the long haul compared to crappy Xbox mics. And you'll actually get better too.

Uh, this post actually makes no sense whatsoever. First off, the X11 is PC compatible. I know because I use it every day on my PC and my brother uses it on his Xbox. Plus, it says so right on Turtle Beach's website. Secondly, that cable you posted up will only give you chat voices from other players. You can not get game sounds by plugging in an adapter cable to the Xbox controller. The jack on the controller is only for chat. So basically what's the point of hearing chat in two ears while wearing a headset that covers your ears and prevents you from hearing the sound from the TV?

Get the X31s. Or else you will have a tangle of wires.

They are amazing. I have the older, now discontinued model, the X1's, but when they break, I will definitely purchase another. Plus, I work at Best Buy (good part time job for a student like myself) and they are $60, but I can get them for about $35, so they're even a better price for myself. :) Definitely worth a buy.

The wires are manageable, plus I have heard the sound quality really isn't too much of a difference. As you go for more expensive headsets, the bass will be better, but that's really all I've heard.

Wait, so the Headset Buddy thing he's talking about only does chat and not game sounds? I'd definitely be interested in knowing whether it does or not as I'm actually in the market for a PC/Xbox headset adapter at the moment. Been trying to find out more about the various options out there but information has been scant. I even started a thread at http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27412232 hoping to get some more info. IzzieWaru and GenesisGod, if you guys get the chance, I'd love for you to chime in on that thread as I'm sure it would help me (and others in the same situation) to hear some first-hand experience. Thanks!

I have a pair of X4's that I bought after my house burnt down. It was that or a new surround sound and I'm pleased with the choice. The surround sound would have been more versatile but these sound way better and clearer cause they are right on your head. I dont like to wear them if I'm the only one in my apt though because someone could rob me of everything in my home and i would never hear them.

Also on a side note, because you can listen to music on them but nobody elsecan hear, imagine a goup of like 4 people dancing with the headsets on having a silent dance party where only they hear the music... that thought amused me.
