Just thought i'd throw up a little something on my new baby I picked up with my copy of AVP...the Turtlebeach X41wirelessheadset. This thing is freakin amazing! Its got Dolby 7.1 surround soundand its amazing...I felt like I was IN the game while playing the campaign on AVP. After giving it a run with Modern Warefare 2, I was totally dominating being able to hearwere footsteps and people were shooting from. The360 degreedirectionals are spot on!Other people said my voice was perfectly clear - evenmore clear than others in the game. I am totally sick of the crap Xbox headset and am so glad I gotmy Turtlebeaches. In the last year I had four Xbox headsets die on me! I can tell these Turtlebeaches are way more durable, so now I dont have to worry about going back to Best Buy every couple of months to get a new Xbox headset. I know the X41 is expensive but its totally worth every penny!

I have the Turtle Beach X41 as well. It's an absolutely incredible headset. I had to get my X41 because my g/f would get pissed at me for having my surround sound speakers cranked up--and turning the speakers down at night really sucked because I couldn't hear important sounds in multiplayer. (I mostly play shooters like COD4, MW2 and Halo 3). You really get a huge advantage when using a headset like this and Turtle Beach has never let me down. (I had an X1 and an X4--then sold my X4 when the X41 came out). I'd definitely recommend these to anyone. Good choice man, enjoy yours.

Why, do you get paid when you say you like a game? What's the difference if I'm happy with a purchase?

No problems with your comment, the other guys sounded like marketing copy.

Those set you back $199.99 right? haha that's a huge price tag. I am content with my X1's. $59.99. They are not 7.1 and they are not wireless but for the, not so rich gamer, they are excellent. No i'm not getting paid for my post either! :P

I see people talking about this headset all the time. I looked it up and I see the "receiver" that you hook the optical cable to for game audio. But how do you get the mic to work? Do you plug a cable from the headset input in the controller to the "receiver" for the headset? Or does that receiver sync wirelessly to the Xbox directly?

There are 3 cable. A USB which you plug from the receiver to you Xbox, another cable that goes from the receiver to the optical cable, and the last one goes into the headset and the other end plugs into your controller.

I have a PS3 as well as a 360

yes they do work with a PS3 but the mic doesnt, I got mine for £119 (183$) which was a very good deal

much more comfortable than the X4's and I plug the USB into my TV because obviously that is always on why I play games

BTW doesn anyone think that thy arent as loud as the X4's?

Yes, if you have the amazing sound, you need the amazing picture right? I had the same question so I found this article on their knowledge base:

I thought it was wireless from the headset to the reciever. But you also need to be wired from the reciever to your controller for headset microphone capabilities. So you're still pretty wired up?

-You can plug the X41 into the Xbox USB and even if the Xbox isnt on, the transmitter will still be powered.

-I had the X4s, and mine are the same volume, if yours are not maybe contact TB support? They've always been great.

-I play the majority of my games on Xbox Live, but on my PS3 I never use PSN so I never needed the mic. I am wondering myself tho, so i'm going to try giving TB a call or email and see what they have for using the mic on PS3, and ill let you guys know as soon as I find something out!

You only need the controller cable connected from the headset to the controller when using the microphone feature. Xboxs microphone capabilities run through the controller, which makes itnecessary. If your not chatting, you can leave it off. But the wire is good because it has a control on it which lets you control the chat volume, and mute the microphone, so its helpful.

Yeah, I know that chatting on the mic requires you to plug into the controller. Perhaps a future version of this headset will sync the mic wirelessly with the console like the wireless headset. It would have to be Xbox specific, since the wireless headsets for the 360 are not blue tooth.
