Xbox Live's fall update is finally here. You can now use Facebook, Twitter, Last.FM, and Zune right from your Xbox 360. This marks four new social outlets available to Xbox Live Gold Subscribers.
First off, you won't have to actually update your Xbox. These features merely need to be turned on for use today. Twitter will automatically be on your console but you will have to download Facebook, Zune, and Last.FM in order to use those services.
Here's a rundown on how each of the new services work.
Facebook
Using your Xbox 360, you can now read profiles, manage friends, look at picture albums, and almost everything else that Facebook has to offer. You can even have Facebook send friend invites from your Xbox Live friends list.
Twitter
What you can from a computer on Twitter, you can now do from your Xbox. You even get a fancier, and more interactive, way to view Twitter as each tweet will pop out as you select it. Plus if you wanted your avatar to do a little more, when you browse Twitter from your Xbox 360, your profile picture is replaced by your fully animated avatar.
Last.FM
Xbox Live members now have access to millions of free songs from Last.FM. Users will be able to browse different categories of music and rate them by either marking each track as "love" or "ban". You can decide to subscribe to the service for $3.00 per month and see who is visiting your profile as well as enjoy uninterrupted, ad-free listening to the Last.FM service. Subscribers will also receive their own station comprised of music they have previously loved.
ZuneMarketplace
With Zune, gamers can purchase movies and television show and view them in full 1080 HD with their Xbox 360. You can even form a party and watch videos on Zune with seven of your friends. Furthermore, video you purchase on Zune from your Xbox will be available to download and watch later from your PC or Zune device.
