1. Yes. However, when my friend used the headset instead of the mic once, he said it was a big off. Still totally playable, but not as accurate as the rock band one. That said, he was probably just making an excuse :P

2. No, however they are easy to unlock. Furthermore, you can input a cheat that unlocks every song if you just want to jam. The cheat deactivates when you shut down the game if you want to play for achievements. Also, you can unlock the songs by playing through single player, and in band World Tourm just by playing them.
