[QUOTE="Dredg11"][QUOTE="NOD_Grindking"]the ONE thing that is irking me so far is the random knockouts.....I appreciate what they are trying to show, as MMA matches often end in quick KOs, but it just seems sometimes like its TOO Random.....for example, I was just playing, and I was controlling the entire match as Chuck....I was owning him on the ground, and all of a sudden bam one kick and its over..... like I said, I appreciate this feature, it just seems like maybe it happens TOO often...NOD_Grindking
That's MMA, my friend.
I'm assuming since it was a KO, it was a headkick. Any headkick from Rua can knock you out. Keep in mind, too, you were probably moving into it. So your momentum probably knocked you out.
I'm an amateur MMA fighter, and even in sparring, that's usually when a headkick will at least knock out down, if not rock your block really good. I've both hit people and been with hit headkicks will throwing a punch...trust me, without the headgears, we'd be out sometimes.
This is kind of my point though....yes it is indeed MMA, BUT it doesn't fully work for a video game I don't think.... it just adds so much luck to it that it slightly takes away from the experience.... You could be dominating a fight, and with one button push, its over, and its not in your favour......like I said, I know all too well that KO's are a common occurence in UFC (just watch that Rua-Liddell fight)....but I am not sure yet how well it blends into a video game....IMHO I might of made them a liiiiiiiiittle bit less common, as it seems on expert now about half my fights are ending in instant KO's... Another question for you guys, has anyone read any stats on damage or anything? like how much damage is given to which areas and how it effects them? Example, as Chuck, when I am wasting a lot of stamina breaking down Rua's legs with kicks to help lessen his take downs, I want to make sure that its actually doing what its suppose to do... I just want to make sure that what im doing in the game, thinking about how it happens in a real MMA match, is exactly what is also happening in the game...Yeah, I see where you're coming from when you say the random KO's don't translate too well to a game, because you can be winning the whole time, and one shot puts you out. But at the same time, if the game wasn't that way, then it might feel too...pre-determined?
To answer your question though, leg kicks will absolutely lessen his takedowns. I leg kicked the crap out of my friend, and he couldn't get a single takedown by round 2. Also damaging the face will slow down how fast they can get their hands up, while damaging the body just slows them down in general.
