That happened to me once. I just turned it off, tapped the top of it, and turned it back on. It hasn't had many problems since then, excluding the one red light.

I had this happen to me. I would just turn it off and then back on. It kept persisting and eventually died. If it's going to die, it'll die. No point in being worried about it to where it's effecting your gameplaying.

it will probably die eventually, maybe.. i've had to send mine in once and then I got ther RROD again but my power supply was just unplugged a little and that was it.. but if you have 1 part of the red ring I think that means your harddrive is disconnected a little..

In my case, 1 red light meant my hard drive was completely f***ed. I'm still waiting to get it back since I've sent it on the 4th ...

I've heard of a couple people with your situation.

usually, people that see any red on their power button call it the RRoD, i don't blame them, they're all freaky. anyway, it might have been that your power cable came loose a bit, either from the 360 or the power outlet in your house, when this happens, you get a rapidly spinning red ring. My friend has had this twice, both times the cable came loose from the outlet (not alone,, once my friend was pulling out his phone charger and the outlet divider came a bit loose), and as soon as it happened, he turned his 360 off for about 5 minutes, and continued to play without any problems. The last time it happened to him was about 5 months ago, and he still has a 360 in perfect condition (internally and externally)

Just wrap it completley in a towel if you ever get the red lights and they won't go away. I do it whenever I get it and it has worked everytime.

I've had experience of both the 1 and 3 rings but by far the strangest incident occurred when I put in Gun (the 360 version) and it prompted me a "Please insert into an Xbox 360" in 9 different languages...that was odd. I suppose it was having some sort of identity crisis.

ya this happened to me on september 25th the day halo came out.. i was playing the campaign for a total of 15min and then boom three red lights.. i was pissed. well i turned off the xbox and then back on and it was fine. then 20min later it shuit off again. i then called xbox support to see what could be done and they told me i have to wait until it completely dies before they can take any action on fixing, that angered me because i didnt know how long i had on the warranty. well 3 months pass and it completely dies what ever i did it never came back from the three red lights. so i called them, box was here in 24hrs, and got my xbox back within a week. now going 3 months strong with no worries.

It will break eventually, its best to just get it over with and send it in so you can stop worrying about it.

That is the same situation that I was in and within a week my 360 was completely RROD-ifyed. With me the screen kept freezing up and their would be no sound, save the worries and just admit your system is screwed. BTW the whole wrap it in a towel thing is only a temporary solution not worth the effort.

Sending your sexbox in isn't the worst thing in the world. I did a couple of weeks ago during a dryspell in game releases, and got it back in under two weeks. My friend had the same expedient experience when he sent his in just before Halo came out. I'd do it now if I were you, what with Army of Two just on the horizon. Just make sure to explain to the "representative" at 1-800-4MYXBOX that you have experienced the red ring of death and you should be taken care of. Good luck.

That really does make me worry alot about having a 360, having the percentage chance of getting the actual RROD, but I don't think I will ever get them again, I know all the causes of them

Oh, that happend to me too, and I didn't know what it meant, so kept trying until the hard drive completely failed and I could no longer start the Xbox. So I lost all my saved games! So make sure you backup everything as long as the box still runs!!!!

I was fortunate that my Xbox was from Costco, so after having played on it for 8 months, I was still able to return it for a full refund. So now I have the Xbox Elite which hopefully is more robust.

It'll die eventually....This has happened to my brother's 360 as well. We would turn it off and on again it be fine. Then other times we get 3 red lights, eventually it died. We got a brand new 360 from Microsoft within 2 to 3 days of playing Mass Effect it kicked the bucket. I just got off the phone with Microsoft customer support for another repair on my bro's behalf. When we get a repaired or another 360 he agrees with my advice to sell it for a 40Gb PS3. That'll make 2 PS3's in the household.

Give it a while then play it and pray it does not break. You are guaranteed more problems in the future though.
