That's what the 120 gig HDD is gonna cost.
That sucks. Why not just allow the use of external usb Hdds? What are we cows damn it?

[QUOTE="shadowslayer30"][QUOTE="sessiz"]MSoft has been worse about this stuff than Apple recently...switching roles? lol I guess they're learning from their competition a lil too well. :( Mac is not necessarily MS's competition, seeing as how they make nearly 14% of Mac's profit. Just in case you did not know Bill gates is 25% owner of Macintosh. That's what the 120 gig HDD is gonna cost.

I highly, highly doubt that considering he isn't on their board of directors...lol Between the Apple execs, google, al gore, and the other guys out there I highly doubt Gates owns 25% of those stocks....especially considering that Apple was almost dead just a bit ago. I also highly doubt this as you refer to the companie as Mac...which is a product line. I didn't know a product line has stock lol But they are learning from competition that is old. Apple has now brought prices to very competitive points and has stopped creating so many cables and jacks that are specifically Apple. That is what almost killed them...and now Stevie is learning but Bill is still taking after the old Apple. That's what the 120 gig HDD is gonna cost.

Pretty stupid! We should be able to use our own hdd like the ps3.Tha_lazyboithere is an easy mod to do that btw.

Not only that but it voids your warrenty.

Doesn't seem like that bad to me. And you can transfer your saves to the new harddrive.

Yeah but when u start adding things up its pretty bad. You spend 400 dollars on a console with limited hard drive space for what they want to do and then thye want to charge u another 180 just to be able to take full advantage of their digital distribution system. Im a bit dissapointed with this lates announcement. Now the 360 is technically the most expensive console of the two juggernauts.

Meh last time I looked (a while back though...like when it first came out lol) it seemed relatively simple. How many of us still have our warranty? Heck with the saved money from the HDD go invest and if your 360 ever breaks then hopefully that saved money will be enough to get an Elite system then! :P (i'm jp btw)Yes but the 20 gig hard drive is a ripoff too. Microsoft should just allow external hard drives. Then you could encase an internal one that you have. Hard drives are much cheaper than what MS charges for them.20gb=$99

 *sniff* This new elites coming out and what am i supposed to do with my existing console. Why dont they have a trade in program, even if you have to pay the difference? This is retarded

Though it's not really a mod at all... You just hook a usb external hard drive to your xbox... It will read it as an external hard drive... And you can play music and photos off of it... That is it... You cannot have game saves on it, XBL content, or anything of that matter.
Opening your xbox to add any sort of mod chips for BACKUP disks is what voids your warrenty.
Trust me, if there was a way to use your own hard drive right now, a LOT of people would be doing that instead of paying $100 for a hard drive that should be $10.
Microsoft has done well with the encoding in the hard drive, aswell as the serial numbers that build it up.
Unfortunately no one has figured it out yet... As far as I have ever seen, and I have done A LOT of research and have talked to a lot of people about modding.

Heres the thing. Someone that is going to buy a 360 now pays 80 bucks more and gets 120 gigs. those that want to buy the HDD to add to their current 360, have to pay 179 bucks. Total BS imothey explained that alreadyThat's what the 120 gig HDD is gonna cost.

It wouldn't hurt NEARLY so bad if I hadn't been looking on newegg for a new HDD from my PC, and found this. I mean, come on. I can get my choice of several 500 gigabyte, drive, extrernal even, USB powered, for the same price range. Half a friggin terrabyte! same price! Even laptop HDD are a bargin compared to this thing. Both of them. Argh.
Its just that knowing that the only reason they made it use proprietary drives is so that they could charge out the urethra for the new ones when they finally got a around to skrewing you into needing a new one.
Oh, and from most reports, the data transfer cable cost extra.
