According to MS this is a Hardware failure - not good. When you call customer support - I would tell them that you got the ROD just because that has a longer warranty. It is a hardware failure though - so one way or another, it's time for a new console. Sorry. Here's the MS article describing your error - but again when you call for support since you're over a year - I would tell them it's the ROD instead of the one you're getting, otherwise they might not cover it under warranty since your console is over a year old. As a suggestion research which exact lights light up for the ROD before you call support - so you can answer which lights are red correctly or they may know you're not being totally truthfull.

Here's the article confirming a hardware failure:

I'm sorry for your loss, dude. I switch my box on everyday half-expecting those 3, luminous little b*stards to greet me. It's horrible living a life eclipsed by such fear...

yea did u guys not read what he said. its just one light not 3 so its not a hardware failure it just means one of ur cables are unplugged or not in all the way or something wrong with ur power supply.

Yeah did you not read my response? One red light lowerright quandrant is a hardware failure - read the Microsoft Article I posted the link for. He is experiencing a hardware failure - maybe for a different reason than the ROD - but a hardware failure no less.

Its the brick Most likely. Dont call them for a coffin yet. Try putting the brick on top of a box or something. Then it it still freezes you might get 3 lights next time..thats what mine did.

Just a thought :]
