Both are terrible. I think the demo for PSU is still availiable on xbox live. FFXI requires a group to level at a reasonable rate. However, since the game is so old, and not even popular to begin with, it would be pretty difficult finding low level people to group with. For PSU, its garbage. All the areas look the same and you keep hitting one button over and over. Its really not fun and quiet dissapointing. I would recommond getting a PC mmorpg or wait for Age of Conan to come to 360 in oct.
Granted I have been out of FFXI for over a year now (left just before the last expansion). But I truely enjoyed FFXI, the lower level gind is ... well, just that, a gind. Once you make it to level 30 a lot more stuff opens up that you are able to do.
I played ffxi for most of last year and I can say it was one of the funnest games I have ever played. Its also one of the most time consuming games, in about 7 months last year I had over 600 hours logged and I was only around lvl 40. Make sure if you do decide to go with ffxi have a couple of friends play with you so you can help eachother with leveling and doing quests. The game is absolutely huge with all the expansions and you could play thousands of hours with tons more to do. If you are willing to pay the $13 a month and have a bunch of time on your hands then you cant go wrong with ffxi.
