Is it actually fair for microsoft to put achievements in games where it requires you to buy extra content (sometimes quite expensive content) in order to get all the achievements? I like getting all the achievements but on games like crackdown or oblivion that requires you pay to get the achievements i dont see it fair. I wouldnt mind the achievements coming with the content after buying it though.

I honestly dont like the achievements like "mine all 100 ore" from red faction but at least if you have the time its actually achieveable

Dude I'm not bashing you, but honestly why is this unfair? If they add new content to games, then it's actually a bonus that they add more achievements. Normally a game has 1000, and with something like Halo 3, which now has like 1750 or something, it's a luxury. So if you don't want the content, then you still get the original 1000. They aren't doing this to rake in more cash, because the normal gamer doesn't care about getting every single achievement.

I forgot the name of the game but it was something like "be the number one player in the world". How is that even possible? Even with boosting a LOT there could always be others trying to out boost you.

Honestly, those achievements are the ones that are the most rewarding. I got the Seriously... achievement in the original Gears, and it meant so much more than any of the others. Why do you want every easy achievement? It doesn't even show hard work.

Mining ore doesn't seem hard just tedious and time consuming. Although I haven't played the game.

This, plus Olivia Munn is the awesome. Seriously though, the stuff added on later is just extra as stated. Sometimes they update the achievements though and show the ones that you need the content to get but it doesnt change things at all, the original 1000 is still there.

I don't like it in games like RE5 where I had all 1000/1000 but then they released the lame MP so I only have 1000/1100. I wish it would only show up as 1100/1100 if I had bought the MP.

It's not unfair. In fact, if DLC didn't come with achievements, a lot of people probably wouldn't pay for 'em. I can think of one achievement in Fable 2 that was one of the original 1000, though, that required you or a friend to have the Pub Games XBLA game. That was lame.

Microsoft invented gamerscore, gamerpoints, etc.

they could do anything they want with them. they could sell em to people, they could somehow flush em all down the toilet, whatever they want.

MICROSOFT Xbox 360.

again.... MICROSOFT Xbox 360

I get what you're saying. I think it's fair to add achievements for downloadable content. But I just got Tony Hawk Ride and noticed that there are achievements for the 80's vert ramp level you get for preordering at Gamestop. That's pretty weak.

You know it man. I hate the fact that I have 1000 GS (original) in Halo 3, but I feel like I have nothing in it since of all the DLC. Now I realize it's just a number, but seriously, I don't have the content, so obviously I'm not going to have the achievements.

Me too. I felt so godly getting 1k on Halo first week. Now it means nothing. Can't even enjoy the game without paying another 40 bucks for maps.

I get what people are saying about dlc, but why would it be hard to add achievements after you download the dlc rather than having to have some achievements there you will never have.....

one thing i noticed today about the achievement system, (something that cant be helped) is that i can no longer get achievements for multiplayer on older multiplayer games such as BK nuts and bolts as no one seems to play.

It's a punch below the belt, but still: no one forces you to get all the achievements. It's not like there's a pile of gold sitting on top of the TV...

I hope, someday, MS will release or make it mandatory to have bots on mp games allowing you to keep playing the game by yourself, and of course getting the achievements.

They are achievements not entitlements.

I would love much harder achievements instead of just get to said # of kills. Gears 2 kill all enemies on one round. Halo3 beat opposing team by 25 kills. RE5 beat game on Pro without ever getting damaged.

I'm fine with this, but if I don't have the content, like in Madden 10/Borderlands, it should just show up as 1000/1000, not 1000/1150.

I just started playing world at war, and they have achievements for the map packs in the game from the beginning. It's a dick move to do stuff like that, I want to be able to get the achievements right out of the box, instead of having to buy stuff to get them. I noticed Resident evil 5 is the same way, instead of adding them with the DLC, they just stick them in the game already. This and QTE's need to stop already, I'm sick of them.

That's what I said dude. I don't want to have to buy anything else in order to get achievements that came with the game, but if I do buy more they can come with achievements, but it will be good because I will have bought what I need to get them.
