I've seen these update disks on Ebay that update your 360 so that it'll play more regular Xbox games. Are these legit, and how do they work?

you can download the files to burn to a disc for completely free from xbox.com they do the same thing allow you to play more xbox games.

Oh, cool! Saves me money :) I wonder if these people on Ebay are just downloading them from Xbox.com and then selling them? Isn't that illegal?
