Update has console making annoying noises!

Ever since the last update my xbox has been making a really annoying grating noise whenever it spins the disk. Fortunately it hasn't damaged any of my games so far. I called up microsoft and all they suggested was renewing my warrenty that would cost over £80.

Anyone else experiencing this and can think of ways to overcome it?

Have you recently knocked your xBox over? If it's the noise I think it is -- then it isn't because of the update and, if it continues, it WILL damage your discs. Does your xbox stand upright or lay down? If it stands up, try laying it down. That stopped the noise in one of my brother's old xboxes. Unfortunately, that one ended up going back to the manufacturer for the red ring of death.
