I have an xbox360 core, I have a friend with a HD and I cannot really afford a HD right now, if I barrow his, could I update my xbox to play Divx and keep it like that? or does it need the harddrive to stay updated?

whats the cheapest way to update an xbox360? all i really need it now for is a media player for the TV, mine isnt updated for Divx / AVIs yet.... unfortuneately.

im pretty sure the update stays on the HDD

so if you borrowed his HDD, whilst the HDD was installed, you could use the update, but as soon as you take the HDD out, the update goes with it.
