i've been thinking about doing that but im still not sure.
oh ya is it showing my gamercard on this post????? please reply back.......
i wish i had money to blow on something that i already have. yeesh. i have a pro and have no intentions of buying another one.
thats like the psp kids buying a star wars psp, then buying a god of war psp just because it looks cooler. but in this case its got more memory. and its black. *slaps forehead*
The only difference is that the Elite is black and has more space to put stuff... I say just buy the extra space if you really need it. But if you are buying one just to have an elite... shame on you. If you are a person with 8 gigs of music and download tv shows and movies than the elite is perfect for you. If you still have like 8 gigs remaining on your Hard Drive, don't waste your money, buy a PS3 or a Wii if you don't have one.

Elite has a newer Chipset, more memory and a better cooling system.
If you have a working Xbox that you're not worried about failing, there's no reason for you to buy an Elite. Just buy the 120 gig hard drive and voila! Your Xbox is the equivalent of the Elite, and you saved money in the process.VManUnless you'd like the HDMI port as well. I took advantage of amazon.com's sale and bought an Elite with GTA4 and a $75 gift card. That sale might still be going on. Anyhow, have fun waiting for the Data Migration cable. Weeks later, mine still has not arrived. I couldn't order the cable until I had the Elite's serial numbers and when I called, they informed me it took nearly a week just to process the order, never mind waiting the 2-3 weeks for the cable. Wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't have a friend waiting to buy my "old" 360.

Falcon Chips noob.
Please reread sentence #1. And if you can't deduce from it, then please simply realize I know about the Falcon Chips. I will admit I assumed that person had an HDMI port 360 already and maybe he/she doesn't. But I fully aware of the Falcon Chips...noob, lol.

Indeed, I assumed he/she had an HDMI equipped already and that may not be the case.

That's true. The Elite went under special construction to ensure that they wouldn't fail like the first 360 did. The fail rates of Elites compared to normal 360's are much lower. I have one and it's has never caused me any grief!

Do you have a link to validate that statement? I haven't heard anything about MS putting more memory in any of the newer 360's. I knew about MS changing the cooling fans, adding an HDMI port and using the falcon chips, but nothing about adding more memory.

I believe Ventric is referring to the Hard Drive. The Elites come standard with a 120GB HD.
I have a core (with all the extras bought separatly) and it keeps going disc unreadable, I've got to the point where i am constantly worried it is going to go disc unreadable and that i am going to have to redo for example a level again...do you think i should upgrade to an elite? thanksfracot
If it's an old system, no longer covered by MS's warranty, I'd just crack the case and swap out DVD drive. That's relatively cheap and shouldn't take that long. There's also webiste dedicated to reparing 360's. Check here if you're interested.
