I am getting ready to purchase an elite mainly because of the bigger harddrive. However, in my first 360, I have my live profile AND many files AND XBL arcade games that I have spent a lot of money on.

I know the transfer cable can be given for free, right? But I heard that it cannot transfer xbl games. Is there anyway that I can transfer my profile AND also transfer my xbl content and games, or atleast get all the mspoints back??

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it in the boards.

Thanks in advance.

The digital downloads are locked to the console, not the HD. Why don't you just purchase the 120 GB HD and copy the content over with the supplied cable and use the same console? Without using HDMI, the elite clearly isn't worth it.

You will be just fine, I upgraded myself and after the transfer everything on my profile was there, so were all of my XBLA games and demos... some demos and videos that I deleted came back as well, but you won't have to delete them since you have all that room!

That's not true at all... every one of my downloads came over just fine and I didn't have to redownload anything.

Sure. They work. As long as you're ONLINE with the same account that bought them. Try it. Take your HD and put it on another 360 that is not online. Try the arcade downloads: they will ALL be trial versions. Why does everybody spread misinformation? My above statements are 100% verifiable true. You can check with Microsoft. Simply call 1-800-MYXBOX and ask them.

thanks for the info from both of you. I will just get the transfer cable, I don't care if I can't do it unless I'm on live, because I always am anyway:)

Thanks again to both!

The downloads aren't locked on to the console but instead on microsoft's online servers. So basically just recover your profile on the elite via xbox live and just redownload all of your stuff from the marketplace. If you already bought the items previously that's on record and you don't need to pay again.

Ok so what your basically saying is that the HD basically contains game saves. But everything like your Gamer ID tag, downloads that you buy, credit card info, they are all in Microsofts servers.

Am I right?

Here's the issue (from what I've heard): You will be required to connect to Xbox Live in order to play any XBLA games that are transferred. Am I right?
