I'm 16 and my parents are so and so with video games. I don't live with both parents so they both have different feelings about it. My mom thinks they are stupid and mind corrupting, but she doesn't really care about me playing them. Occasionally she will come downstairs and be like why don't you go to a friends house or go outside and play basketball? My dad on the other hand thinks they are the most stupid thing in the world. He always tries to get my off of them, but I just learned to ignore his pleas.

My parent's are always wishing ''they never should havegot me that Xbox''. The amountof time i'm allowed in one day has gone down to 2 hours, and even then I'm told to come off, sometimes an hour before that, just because they don't think it's good for you. I mean, we have this technology, so why not benefit.

That idea that someparents say you don't learn from video games, isn't true. For example, I spent 20 mins on Forza Motorsport 2, and managed to find out the difference between a centrifugal and Positive displacement supercharger. ;)

My parents know that I'm mature enough to distinguish fantasy from reality, so as long as I keep my grades up, they have no opinion on my gaming habits.

My mom hates videogames (exept baseball since she loves Derek Jeter). My dad thinks they're great. I even got him to start reading the Mass Effect prequel Revelation.

Videogames on the whole have a positive influence on young people no matter what the media and parents say. It keeps us indoors and away from drugs, petty crime and the like. Teaches us patience and logical thinking, improves our reflexes and hand to eye coordination and I also believe we are more tollerant towards others.

i thought parents dont like us playing because it corrupts us all! i mean havent they proven that playing any of the GTA games turns you into a killing car jacking person?? haha

some parents just dont look at it the same way as we do... they were not raised with them and dont quite get them.

I don't think my parents ever thought games were mind corrupting but I think that might be because my dad was big into computer gaming. I've never had a problem, but I usually don't play for huge periods of time that might cause them to worry. That's just when I happen to be at home. Being at college there isn't much they can do.

I row, a sport which maintains practice every single day of the week except Sunday and Thursday, all around the year, most of summer included, have all A's, and I go out most every Friday night and Saturday night with friends; I still spend a crapload of time gaming. My parents have learned to accept it since I buy everything to support the habit, and I game reasonably.

Mine really don't care. I mean, they limit WHAT I play to a degree (i.e The Guy Game, Playboy Mansion are off-limits). They know that I'm responsible enough to keep both my grades and chores without my beautiful Xbox 360 getting the way. Dang, they're that harsh? What do they let you play?

Well, I'm 19 so it wouldn't matter either way. I don't have to deal with my mom anymore.

However, when I was still 15 and below, I played games also. And I never got any complaints about it. As I shouldn't. If your parents tell you it's going to corrupt your mind then they obviously don't trust you. I wouldn't like that.

Anyway, I guess you are going to have to put up with it. Suck it up. The alternative, although I would have done it, is a worse idea objectively.

I'm 17 and myy parents are the exact opposite. They feed me them like it's candy. If I want a game, I'll just order it online or go to the store and buy it without even asking. All I have to do is get good grades (which will be really hard this year since I'm taking 2 college classes) and do good in tennis.

I'm fifteen and my parents hate it There always telling me to get outside. I guess they grew up in an age where there were tons of kids around and video games never existed, so I guess they will never understand. My Dad plays only in the winter because he's really into running and my Mom's a work-a-holic. I do have a A average but if it slips my computer's power cord is going into hiding. The less time I'm on them the better, from their perspective.

I don't see why this only applies to people that still live with there parents. But regardless I'd have nothing to worry about. My parents love games. My Dad loves Oblivion, so I'll probably get him a 360 and the game for Xmas so he dosen't have to play mine lol. Also My Mom comes over and plays GH2 with me, thats how I got most of the Co-op achievements. She also played the Halo3 beta with me. I remember when I was younger watching my dad play Zelda. I'm 20 by the way.

My parents never say anything about them now cuz I'm 17 but they didn't always get me M games when I wanted them before that even with my money but that's about it. I don't think they care because most of the time I'm playing is when I have friends over, I'm at a friend's house, or we're playing online. I do stuff outside with them to and I keep straight A's in weighted classes so they're fine with it.

My parents used to think it was a waste of time until one day MLG was on TV having a Halo 2 tournament and since they figured out that you can make a decent carrer off of developing games.

My father says that video games effect my brain

My mom says that video games are fascinating and she buys me alot of them
