im just checking, i know that on previous systems, one couldnt buy a game in the US and play it in Europe cause of the whole ntsc and pal formats....

and i just bought myself a 360 in south africa(which will basically fall under europe and pal) and at the moment im in the US and i just wana find out if i can buy games here in the US and be able to play them in EU...

and does the ntsc and pal formarts still prevent you from playing ntsc games on a pal system?

thanks

Well I don't know because my friend gave me a game from America to see if it worked on my European console, But people are saying that NTSC doesn't work if the game/Xbox is region Coded.

Can anyone tell me how it works out if the game is region coded or not because the game I used had NTSC written in the top right hand corner like all games to show the system and I want to know so I can get some games from America while the Dollar's cheap and help boost the Economy :D, while stating loyal Europe of course (I don't really wanna boost the economy, I just wanna Game :D Jk)

The 360 is not region locked. But the software makers have the option to put a software region lock in the game. (the Ps3 has the same system)

The only games I know that are region free are the Team Ninja ones. Doa 4 and DOAX 2. I'm sure there is a list of games that are region free on the internet somewhere if you look for it. There was a site I used to go to to look for the information. But since most 360 games release so closely to the US dates in Europe now my interest in region free games kinda faded.

But there are region free games for 360. I just don't know all of them :?

You wil need a TV that supports the 60HZ NTSC signal though. But most TV's made in the last 7-5 years do.But if your TV did not suport that you wouldnt be able to play a lot of PAl games anymore either. Because they require you to use a 60hz signal anyway.

If you can play the PAL Gears or Doa4 on your TV at home you can play NTSC games too.

I know the verdict is that some US games can work in a European Xbox360, but what about the other way around? I'm looking to pick up a game while I'm in Europe, but I'm not sure if it will work in my US xbox360?
