Using a external DVD/ HD DVD player to play games?

Well my 360 is dying and it s because it has a hard time reading discs. So I was wodering if I could use a external DVD/ HD DVD player to play games if it is connected to my 360?

I don't even think the official HD DVD drive from MS could be used for games!

Lord knows I would love it if there were a mod project that could modify that HD-DVD drive's firmware so it could be used internally in the 360. Make it into an all-in-one DVD/HD-DVD/game player. :D

well as far as iknow you can get a bunch of USb flashdrives then sync those with your xbox via the dashboard and bamm you can install your discs to those drives so that the disc is only used as verification, of the fact that you own the game.

it might not seem llike much but assuming your using a wireless controller thats 4 usb slots.

You can use up to 16gb with external drives like thumbdrives and put games on that. 16gb is not huge but better than nothing!

That. Or you can find a 360 that got RROD and salvage the DVD drive. Easy and painless

For now, just install games to your harddrive. That should reduce the strain on your dvd drive.
