I'm asking if you have your iPod hooked up to your 360 and a game allows you to use your own soundtrack will you be able to play the music on you iPod on the game or does it have to be on the 360 HDD

While I'm not sure about games with custom soundtracks, I do know that XBLA games automatically mute the music in favor of the Xbox media player. But for actuall full fledged games, I'm not to sure. I would imagine that you could just manually mute the game music and then use the Xbox Guide to make and play your music selections off your iPod.

Not sure about the 'Ipod' , Microsofty can be rather mean when it comes to hardware from competition but I play music from my USB stick everytime when playing shooters. No need to rip it on HDD.

yup it mutes the music...you can hear the in-game sounds but the soundtrack will be the music you're playing..

If you have a computer with xp service pack 2 or better the xbox can detect and connect to it, then you can listen to all your music through the box. Or gat a zune. It's flawless with the xbox (for me anyway.)

i think it mutes your music on the ipod when you are playing a game.. its best if you burn it into the HDD through a CD then you can listen to it while playing a game.

The iPod works the same way as listening to music off the HDD. Its the best way to listen to music through your Xbox besides a Zune. To get it to work though you must have the media update. I use my iPod because I got sick of all my CDs taking up a lot of space on my harddrive.

All you do is connect your iPod through the USB cable in the front of your 360 and download the Optional Media Update (which you may need to call Xbox for)

Easier than using your HDD
